Javier Fernandez

Such a cute clip, thank you evergreen! Javi so such an authentic and funny guy, it's part of his charm

You are welcome, xibsuarz, I am glad that you enjoyed the clip as much as I did:laugh:

Javi likes shell fish for Christmas

Having watched TSL's recent interview to David Wilson, I recalled that PJ Kwong interviewed DW prior to Sochi, focusing on his choreography for the three OGM contenders for the men's event, namely, Pchiddy, Yuzuru & Javi. Here is the link to the clip:

It appears to me that DW got excited when he started talking about Javi.

I agreed DW on some points that when Javi is on, his jumps, especially the quads, are amazingly marvelous, which he executed with such easiness, and fans need to watch his performance live to fully appreciate his beauty of jumps, he is such a natural jumper. However, Javi's posture, free leg extension/body alignment was not polished in 13-14 season, though he has improved a great deal since then. As to the IT quality, which he was born with, is the key reason why so many spectators around the world, including non-skating fans, fall in love with him as soon as they saw his skating.

I agree with everyone regarding the importance of Brian, Tracy and David and everyone at the Cricket Club and the great work they've been doing. Javi is obviously very talented, but he is also very fortunate.

I remember reading that Brian was really hurt when Yuna and then Adam left, and I recall an interview a couple of years later in which Brian said because of what happened with Yuna and Adam, "I will no longer let myself get emotionally involved" when working with his skaters. I'm not sure whether this kind of wound will ever be fully healed, but I do hope he can have many skaters who truly trust him.

I still get confused about the rules for green room. Are coaches usually allowed in there? It seemed Brian was the only one there at Euros 2015 (which was a very nice thing for Brian to do). I also saw photos of the coach of Meagan and Eric in the green room at this year's worlds. But we've also seen a lot of skaters there without their coaches.

Oh and thank you evergreen for uploading this lovely video.

I don't know, eihter :scratch2: But Brian is usually there, he was in Words last year and this one, and in Euros too

Thank you evergreen for the link!

In both this interview and the recent TSL interview, it seems that DW can't help smiling when he starts to talk about Javi. I like it especially since just thinking about Javi also puts a smile on my face.

I agree regarding the "IT" quality that Javi has. It's insteresting that in the TSL interview David talks about how Javi has a kind of "Hollywood charisma that you can't quite put your finger on", and last season Kurt said something about Javi having that "boy next door" qualities. I think both are true if you think about it. Javi has both the extroverted charm and the unassuming, sweet innocence, which is one of the reasons why his presence on ice is so unique and why I enjoy watching him.

(BTW David has a really cute dog :luv17:)

Oh and last but not least, thank you evergreen again for the cute video clips! I love the way Javi said "I'm going to celebrate the holidays with Twelve Grapes." And him struggling with the Spanish message in the clip you linked to earlier is so hilarious. He must be a really fun person to be around lol.
(And now I think I'll have to look for other cute and funny Javi videos on YouTube. So thank you evergreen for this new addiction, too;))

I don't know anything about the shirt but I like the picture :luv17:

And here is a recent interview: http://thepermanentrainpress.com/post/144369376775/javier-fernandez-interview-2016

Not much that we don't already know, except:
1) Javi loves "Guys and Dolls" and skating this program in the summer shows is kind of a good way to say goodbye to it. (It's expected, I guess, but I'm a little sad since it is a really, really awesome program.)
2) He was excited to choose "Danny Boy" because "it’s one of my coach’s favourite songs".

Javi likes green tea ice cream! It may not be that easy to find in the west but it's certainly tasty.
Thank you for posting the interview!

Isn't he just speaking about shirts they are both wearing in the photo? The shirts have JFTeam logo and Javi use tag 'JFTeam' very often lately.

No, looks like some people bought it, in other colors too. It means Javier Fernandez Team, and if you put #JFT brings you to his page, but can't find anything about the shirts

I heard from some resources that Javi has opened his own skating school/camp in Madrid, may be JFTeam stands for the name of the camp?Again, this need to be confirmed.

He does have a summer camp, but it seems like the location changes each year. This year it will be in Andorra. But idk how related that is to the shirts.
Btw he is also holding a Gala in Girona, alongside some skaters from Team Spain and Team Russia :)

In Toronto they sell them at Chinese supermarkets which are plenty, I'm sure he doesn't have any trouble finding any, I know because I am an addict too and I can always find some when I want it :agree:

And maybe the JFTeam thing is going to be like Ronaldo's CR7 thing, maybe it's like a brand thing for stuff related to him.

In the TSL interview last year Javi admitted that he likes green tea ice cream. He then said it's all Miki's fault. (And Miki rolled her eyes )

I'm not sure if this is Javi's attempt at winking at the camera... ;)

Yes, there are various Asian supermarkets in Toronto where you can find Japanese favor of green tea & red bean ice cream, but I am wondering whether Javi can get there by his bike  plus, can skaters have ice cream during the season? May be in Javi's case, he does not care for diet and has whatever he likes. But Brian usually prepares nutrition shake and energy bar for Javi if he looks pale & sleepy when he arrives in the rink for the morning practices.

this make sense. In his recent interview, Javi mentioned that he intends to set up a company/high performance center in Spain helping skaters to move on after retiring from competitive career.

Miki has to take care of two babies, little sunflower & Javi big boy

It looks to me Javi has yet waked up :ohwell:

Guess what, I watched the movie Guys & Dolls on my cross-pacific flight today :) it was entertaining & funny, DW is indeed a genius to put together such a masterpiece. But Javi' s 4 1/2 minutes performance at worlds is more glamours :luv17:

Road conditions suck in the winter here in Toronto so I doubt he's stocking up on that ice cream during the training season, summer is nice (except for the construction downtown) so I'm sure he's more lax on what he eats.

And that's cool! He should be like Ronaldo and sell JFTeam merchandise, I would totally buy something to help him support his dream. Seeing pioneers from small skating countries go back and try to develop skating in their home countries is always a good sight to see. This past Worlds had a depressingly low percentage of small federation skaters making the top 10.

I didn't know Brian had to do that ... Does this still happen sometimes or was it during Javi's early years in Toronto?
Javi, Javi... He's very fortunate that he is a likable human being and he is with coaches who are able to deal with this. I've known coaches (of other sports) who would be driven completely crazy by someone like him and just start banging their own heads against the wall.:bang:

DW really did a superb job with this program :luv17:
Brando was such a great actor that even though he wasn't the best singer he still managed to make this role work.
I think Javi's FS is its own animal. Brando appears more aggressive in the film while Javi is more personable. Both are appropriate for their respective platform.

Trust me, these are Brian's own words when he gave Japanese media an interview not very long ago. Brian has been practically babysitting Javi from the beginning and it seems that these are part of the regular routine up- to-date.
Javi does not have early morning practice sessions since Brian knows he cannot make it. Before the middle morning sessions, Brian would give Javi a call to see if he is on his way to TCC or he is still sleeping. If Javi is still at home, Brian would offer him a ride. Brian would let Javi have breakfast (nutrition shake & energy bar) at his office and tells him it is Ok if he is 20 minutes late for the practice.

In his early years with TCC, Brian had to pick up Javi from his apartment every morning.

Yes, even his Spanish coaches complained about his lack of discipline, despite being very naturally talented. The only other coach would have done the same is Tarasova, but Yagudin did not have work ethic issue.

It is not uncommon that some elite skaters with all the talents do have problems with work ethic, e.g., late Chris Bowman, Nicole Bobek, Tonya Harding, etc. Many said Kurt Browning was not a hard worker but it was his talent got him through his career. If any difficult elements comes to them so naturally without going through hard training, why they should bother to work their butt off, especially when they acquired all the technical skills at very young age. On the other hand, they were full of energy which made them difficult in staying focused and keeping their concentration on the task.

It did take Brain Orser some great efforts to trick Javi to stay put in one practice session at the beginning. I also think that Javi has been benefited from team rivalry a lot. Whilst Javi has been always very humble, he did have confidence issue in the past, which was partially attributed to his disappointing later half of Season 11-12. Having trained alongside with Hanyu, he finally realized that he had all the assets to be the top notch skaters and how hard he has to work to stay ahead of the game.
