Dang. I think it's a kind of protective measure in a way, but good on them for releasing her. Not like Russia needs another pairs girl, and now they can train towards the next season.

Yay! At least they now see the date in front of them and can jump into the next season fresh! That uncertanity they were in finally ended.

Btw. I know they were filmed in czech tv channel Prima but I missed the date to check, does anyone know?

I think that is a good program and very solid performance, despite one fall.
 
I feel like they definitely improved from the Test Skates. I'd say the pair elements are very good, lifts, spins, death spiral. Twist, throws and jumps need a lot of work still.

I don't know if anybody has noticed, but I recently took over the running of this thread. But, I haven't started work on it yet. So, I didn't actually know when Liza's birthday was.

Do you know when Liza and Martin will next be in action? There are so many events coming at us at the moment that I am finding it so hard to keep track of what is on when, never mind who is at what.

Liza and Martin will be competing at this week's round of the Challenger Series, the Warsaw Cup.

The Senior Pairs SP is due to start at 16:00:00 CET (15:00:00 GMT / 20:00:00 YEKT). So 9 hours from now.

Liza and Martin will be the 3rd partnership to start. So, third and penultimate partnership to go in Group 1.

They are due to start at 16:16:50 CET (15:16:50 GMT / 20:16:50 YEKT). So 9h 16m from now.

But, those times may change if somebody that is due on before them withdraws.

Warsaw Cup Senior Pairs SP: Results; Protocols

Liza and Martin finished 8th out of 20 in the SP, with a score of 60.88.

Here is what I wrote in the competition thread:

Boys, but it is so good to see Martin in a partnership where there is stability again.

Can't say I am fussed on the music, but the skating was good.

Even with the masks you can see the family resemblance between Martin and Petr!

They go into 2nd. And the live scoring isn't working, so I can't say how far behind they are.

To answer my own question, they were 1.67 points behind Chelsea LIU / Danny O'SHEA (USA), who ultimately finished 5th in the SP.

When watching it, there was only one mistake that I noticed. Martin had a dodgy landing on the second element, the Triple Twist. And looking at the protocols, this was the only thing that the judges had issue with. All but two of the judges gave it -3. Judge 4 gave it -2, while Judge 5 gave it -5!

Liza and Martin are currently 0.81 points behind 7th position, Jessica CALALANG / Brian JOHNSON (USA), and 1.20 points ahead of 9th position, Sara CONTI / Niccolo MACII (ITA). But, they are actually part of a bigger group where 9.06 points covers 4th position down to 16th position. The partnership in 4th position, Anastasiia METELKINA / Daniil PARKMAN (GEO), are only 1.82 points ahead of Liza and Martin. So, if they have a good FS, they have a real chance of climbing up places.

So, fingers crossed that the FS goes well!

Liza and Martin finished 12th out of 19 in the FS, with a score of 96.25. This meant that they dropped to 12th place overall, with a score of 157.13.

It should be said the pair had once again a hard time about training before the Warsaw Cup. Because of the perpetual changes of the travelling rules it happened that for some time Liza remained stuck in Moscow and Martin at home and in the end they had only a little time to train together, which naturally affected their FS at Warsaw Cup. The whole world needs the relief from covid finally, but esp. a pair like this who prepares in two countries needs that.

Firstly, apologies that I am only replying now. I took a few days away from the forum, as I needed a break before the business part of the season.

Thank you for the information. Yes, that would be a major problem. Travel restrictions are necessary to try to contain the spread of the pandemic, but they do cause major disruption in situations like this where people who need to be together are simply not able to be.

Hopefully they will have managed to get some training in before Four Nationals, which start today.
