Joshua Farris

Practice looked good to me, lots of emoting during the step sequence - the movements looked sharper to me than Nationals and 4CC's. Is Friday here yet?

No 3A though! HOW AM I GOING TO HANDLE THIS?! I need a klonopin for Friday.

Joshua did not do much jumps in his FS run-though, but performance too great to be true. wish somebody recorded it.(according to fan repo).

I know some follow both Josh and Jason, but maybe not everyone does, so from Jason's twitter feed: Baby Josh and Baby Jason then, and all grown up now:

So happy for these two to be at their first senior Worlds together :yay:.

Some historical perspective on their (friendly :)) rivalry re internationals:
Brown and Farris will compete head-to-head at a major international for the sixth time.
They faced off at the 2012 and ‘13 World Junior Championships with Farris and Brown finishing 1-2 and 2-3, respectively, in 2012 and ‘13.
At the 2012 JGP Final, Brown took gold while Farris finished third. In 2013, Farris was second and Brown fourth.
Most recently, Farris won the 2015 Four Continents silver as Brown finished sixth.

ETA:

The USOC finally has tweeted a link today to the Josh article that it published yesterday:

Better late than never, but I wonder what took the USOC so long . USFS had tweeted the link yesterday:

My characterization of him as a "stone cold fox" upthread lead to some laughs but COME. ON. If that's not the most accurate way of describing his looks I'm not sure what is.

I think I laughed because I remember the first videos I watched for him as a very gawky, gangly fifteen year old! But now, now he is certainly very handsome.

Oh, I love the sound of this.

Jason posted the same photo on his instagram, with a longer, cuter message.

Here's to another ten years!

Thanks, karne. Worth copying Jason's Instagram message :) re Josh :) in full here, IMO:

Shout out to this incredible guy...We've been competing together for a decade now! We've had the privilege of standing beside one another on 5 National Podiums, 1 Junior Grand Prix Final, and 2 World Junior podiums together. We've pushed each other from a far, befriended one another, gotten to see the world, grow up, and watch each other mature in a sport we love! Can't believe we started competing against each other in 2005 and now 10 years later we're at our first World Championships! Let the adventures continue! @joshdfarris #TransformationTuesday #WCShanghai

For good or bad, we'll be crying again on Saturday...

Maybe Josh should promote his own tissue range, or a line of handkerchiefs.

I bet those would be some super-silken, suave handkerchiefs

Given his angsty programs, of course he's going to look tortured, and he does it so well, lol.

I really hope next season his FS will be a little more upbeat, since he's keeping the anguished cries of Ed Sheeran for another season.

Breathtaking!

I think the step sequence at the beginning has been improved. That was stunning.

Is the change-edge, change-direction skiddy spiral near the end a new feature? I don't recall that before, but of course I'm old.

That was really special.

This is an interesting topic, actually. People often complain about (mostly young) skaters listening to someone else's advice and picking music that they don't really like and how cool and different and good for them it would be if they choose something they listen on their ipods, especially now that the rules allow it. On the other hand, I saw a lot of complaints about Josh and Jeremy picking angsty sad songs and how it's slightly boring and looks like an exhibition. But they sincerely like what they picked. I think they listen to it on a daily basis. Still not good. Just sharing an observation that I made)
I too would like to see something more upbeat for the next LP, not necessary happy-go-lucky or some sort of Riverdance, just a change in the mood. But whatever he's comfortable with will work for me.

that skiddy spiral is a signature move for joshua. he has been use it for a while now. I guess. Also, Jeremy Abbott use it.

I'm sorry, I was unclear.

I meant to ask if it is a newly incorporated move in "Schindler's List."

Robin Cousins also used this move, so I know it's not original to Josh (or Jeremy)... I just don't remember seeing in in this program before.

It's beautiful. I bet it takes a great deal of practice to do this well.

nope, it is the original move in SL, he has it in last season SL debut as well. IIRC

Thank you, I don't know how I could have missed it. I've only watched the 4CC version of that program about 100 times!
