It will not be a quad, that will decide. The triple Axel will.

I doubt these guys will try a quad. But Reynolds will, for sure.

Adam doesn't have a quad, nor a triple axel. Still...

Reynolds is in 13th place after the SP, almost 15 points behind Rippon. Kevin's less than 8 points out of the medals, but he'd have to skate perfectly to make up for low PCS scores, which are exaggerated even more in the FS. But Kevin isn't known for his consistency, and two of the top 3 men are.

Because Kevin won't even be in the penultimate group for the FS, that's going to hurt him even more in the PCS department.

Brandon Mroz has a 3A (and he landed a beautiful 3A combination in the SP), but he's never going to match Rippon in PCS.

Borodulin is the only one who's beaten Rippon this year. I don't think Artem has a 3A, though.

Who is going to try one? How many have actually landed one before?

Kevin Reynolds has 2 quads and a 3A in his FS. But he never lands all 3 cleanly, and he gets low PCS scores.

No way! Look at the SP--Adam did easier jumps than many of the others and is very solidly first. Reynold's quad may bring him up in the standings but he's not going to win here.

That isn't quite true. Adam did pretty much the same jumps as most of the other men. Only two men in the top 10 did 3A's and one put a hand down on it. The difference is Adam's non-jump elements and choreography were head and shoulders above the rest, and he is a natural performer who brought personality to his program.

In the IceNetwork article, Borodulin is quoted as saying he will attempt the triple axel tomorrow:

"I am very pleased with my performance today, because I broke my foot shortly before the junior final. I was able to recover and get in shape to skate at this competition," explained Borodulin. "I restarted doing steps on the ice in early January, and have only been jumping about a month. I think if you want to move to seniors you need a triple Axel. So, I will do the triple Axel tomorrow in the free skate."

For pure rhythm in figure skating, I'll take Brezina. Rippon and those Morozov arms just don't get me. Borludin's arms as hectic as they were worked with that Russian folk music. Steenberg was overwhelmed with that ballet music. Lucine was quite lyrical, but a bit cautious. He deserves a keener look in the LP and next season. Mroz surprised me. He was musical.

Apparently, quads are out of the picture and 3As are the wow jumps. All the above have 3x3s.

I don't think lacking a quad is unusual for Junior male skaters. Correct me if I'm wrong on this one.

Out of the skaters today, I personally enjoyed Rippon, Borodulin, Brezina (those jumps!) and both Tens.

I think nobody of these 6 guys will show a quad. Maybe will somebody land two clean 3A including a 3A/3T combination and beat Rippon (Brezina?).

Mroz can land a 3A combo and a solo 3A in the FS, but with his non-jump elements, he will never beat Rippon on the PCS.

Rippon has to skate a clean performance with the same energy and personality he gave in the SP to hold off the guys with the 3A. OTOH, the 3A guys not only have to land all their jumps, too, but they have to try to match Rippon's skills in the non-jump elements.

Borodulin with a 3A can top or tie Rippon with a clean performance. However, Artem is not the most consistent skater, and may be a bit vulnerable in the stamina department because of his long layoff.
