Well other than Cinema Paradiso, but Morricone is much chosen, so I suppose that counts as overused too.

Despite the feeling I get from the choice of skating to the Jungle Book, it at least is a relief from the regular grind.

He looks more like Mr. Rogers than Prince Charming in a black buttoned sweater vest over a pink shirt. She has on something that looks suspiciously like a pink slip my gran owned. We found it in her drawer when she passed away.

Tonia likes their stretch. Slow. Twizzles off. Very deliberate spin. Best thing about it, it's juniors so the dance is 30 seconds shorter than seniors. However, good stretch and they could surprise you if they don't just pack it in.

They have a row of silver lines drooping across the front of their outfits that give the entire ensemble a drum majorette type of look. only it's drum majorettes whose costume went to the shredder rather than the cleaner. There are many flying rags and in fact he had to rip one off. (black and red, he with shiny pants. He does some nice curve edges during 2 of the lifts.

I find that music dreary.

They have to start early. She has on a great if rather skimpy two toned magenta (pale and dark) skating dress with la diagonal of large diamonds sash-like on both the front and back. The asymmetrical skirt has very long silvery fringes.

The twizzles were quite good, as was the dance spin. He was quite tentative/weak on the first lift.

They have quite good speed compared to the previous couples.
He splats in the circular step after catching his toe pick.

They are doing a near eastern theme with lots of Sufi/Feeling Begins palms upward movements. They're wearing painted outfits orange blending into dark red. She has a huge (and pointless) chevron on the illusion fabric on her back and the required rag skirt. He has a faux belt with what looks like an ornate belt buckle in the back.

The coach is being encouraging to them. "It's a good sign"

Much much better than their OD IMO. Better speed and unison, a nice pair spin (but maybe short?) and good synchro on the twizzles for this level. They really committed to the movements and I thought connected to the music.

Their costumes on the other hand are unfortunate. Her skirt is is poison green and black rags and looks like a messy pile of seaweed, especially in lifts. The top is a Madonna corset with sleeves (yes sleeves).

Rhys's feet are cramping while they wait for the marks, poor baby.

What a puzzling choice of outfits for the Beatles. Basic black with a headband, top a see through shirt over a black bra. There is a faux belt with a large rectangular buckle that is pointlessly echoed in rectangles on his arms.

She has two moves, one a lift where she is supposed to do a split and doesn't get into a full split. Not a good choice. Twizzles off. Smooth skaters though. She may have flexibility in her back but not her legs.

I liked that. They are both 18 and should do well on the JGP circuit next year. They kept good speed and energy throughout. I particularly liked the circular step. and the handstand lift.

She's in a red one armed dress. The other side has a thick black strap crossed asymetrically in the back. His top is a 50's punk jacket look (appropriate)

Major twizzle problems for Maia, she stepped out of the first one and fell on the second -- not sure if it will count as a fall because it was hard to see how much of her touched the ice. Otherwise, gorgeous and their lift where he is spinning/twizzling is very cool.

It did count as a fall. On the replay it looked like the side of her lower leg hit the ice but that was it (technically is anything but the blade hits it counts as a fall, but obviously that's not the case since lunges, etc. don't count).
