Kamila Valieva

Congrats to Baby K!
Kamila is really making progress. This time she "gathered her nerves" (Eteri's words) and had a clean FS,
If I remember correctly, Alina won silver at the Rus National before the Olympic season, so maybe this is history in replay? (although I also really really want Anna to win the next Olympics).

Congratulations to Kamila for the best I have ever seen her skate a Free! :love2:

This was an incredible event for many reasons, but Kamila managed to show growth, increased stability and her wonderful personality. I can't ask for more, and I now wish her health and a happy new year.

However, I think Bolero is the worst program she has ever been given in her short career, it doesn't carry the magic and lightness of the previous ones, so I hope they change it for the Olimpic season.
Hmmm, were you watching yesterday?
I wasn't a big fan of this program from the start but it's become so much better since the beginning and now I think it's amazing. :love2:
I just wish there weren't so many bolero programs around because hers is truly unique..

Same here! It's (she's) getting better and better! Very well done! She was apparently much more relaxed and confident this time and more connected to the music. After the final pose, I was sure she'd be the champion, but then Anna proved everybody wrong...😊 As I've said before, I can totally see the Olympic potential in this program, and I'm sure she'll master it by then.

Here's what Kami (and the other girls) said at the press conference after the FP:

I still don't like it even though she's performing it magnificently. To be honest I think she would be able to turn any program into something beautiful to say the least.
However, I personally believe an ethereal / mystique / delicate style suits her better (e. g. her Spiegel im Spiegel program moves me to tears every single time). But it's just a matter of personal taste :)

Well done to Kamila on her silver medal! Her free skate was marvellous - I was expecting her to be anxious and feeling the pressure from Sasha's super performance, but her face was tranquil as she waited for the start of the music, and once it began, for me, it was a different Kamila out there on the ice. She has grown emotionally/mentally/whatever the right term is, and it was such a pleasure to watch her skate with that confidence and calm. Her quad toe is enormous, and her spins continue to be fantastic. What a wonderful young athlete she is!

All smiles at the press conference.

Well deserved siver medal🥈. She did an amazing job👏👍 even Yagudin cried after her performance 😂.

Her Bolero was perfect 🐍 If she can land her triple axel in the short and had one in the free, she can beat anyone. It’s amazing how she improved since test skate.💪❤️

Kamila's incredible Bolero:

Everytime I listen to bolero going forward, I will always think about this perfromance. Bolero = Valieva, period.

My favorite performance of the Russian nationals. Have seen this multiple times, I’ve lost count.

This is a MASTERPIECE from beginning to end. Makes you wish the free skate was longer. The only negative was that it had to end after 4 minutes.

When the commentators give you a standing ovation and are lost for words, and can only stand and applaud, you know you reached heights rarely reached.

You will be hard pressed to find a performance this good that did not win gold.

But, there is certainly no shame in losing to Anna and her super legendary efforts.

Prominent Soviet champion and coach Alexander Vedenin who was in Chelyabinsk claims that he saw Kamila practicing 4Lz succesfully there.
Wait, you mean to tell me what we saw last week was just the beginning?

If she keeps the 4T, and adds the 4Lz, all I can say is good lord.

If I watched her skate from Nationals about a dozen times so far, how many times will I watch if 4Lz are also included?

I'm not gonna believe until I see with my own eyes👀

So Kamila, this is a challenge to you 😉
Vedenin is very qualified skater, 2 times USSR champion, former USSR national team coach. He worked as a technical controller at the US Nationals. I would like to see it with my own eyes too, but I tend to believe him.
