Kanako Murakami

yeah a pretty good decision both for Kana & Mao
I really hope Kanako yakes this opportunity & slays:yahoo:

Kanako's had good results in Taiwan (2014 :cheer: ) I'm hoping she can skate lights out! I'm so glad her competition season isn't over :)

Update of Kanako: Before Mao announced her withdrawal from 4CC, Kanako thought since she couldn’t make it to neither 4CC nor WC, she’d rather use the time left this season to prepare for the next. So she had already started preparing for the next season. She changed a new pair of boots and began to pick new music. Now that she has the chance to go to 4CC, her primary task is to adjust herself to her new boots. (Not sure if I understand all info correctly from the article:
http://www.tokyo-np.co.jp/article/sports/list/201602/CK2016020502000237.html. I will be thankful if anyone who speaks Japanese can confirm.)

I am glad that this time, Kanako doesn’t talk about retirement anymore. She is not the girl who feels lost and not sure if she would continue to skate. She now is determined to go for it and looks forward earnestly to the next season. If she opts to stay for season 16-17, then I am pretty much sure she will continue all the way to season 17-18. After all, nobody will quit just before the Olympics season, right??

Your reading is correct skatefan22 per rosewood of fsuniverse: Japanese Figure Skating news & translations, 2015/16 season. My heart ached for Kanako upon reading there that she cried a lot at her results which meant she did not make it to the team either for Worlds or 4CC for the first time since she made her senior debut. Now that she IS part of Japan's 4CC team, I wish her redemptive skates in the competition she won in 2014, new boots notwithstanding.

I'd love for Kanako to continue to compete until Pyeongchang, and will pray that she gets the results that will motivate her to do so.

Thank you, Maria, for the link! I should follow that thread on FSUniverse from now on. :luv17:

I am just curious why she is not changing the blades. More TJ skaters are switching to pattern 99 revolution. She used to use such blades for her olympic season. Well, I guess she has her reason. But honestly, for quite a time, I have been hoping that she can change everything - her boots, her blades, her coach, her choreographer, her JUMPS!!! I just don't understand her insisting not changing any of these for so long, especially her coach. And now, at least, we have the boots changed...

Oh Kanako you made me so happy with your SP at the 4CC! :cheer: You showed your fight by saving that 2A, the jump that has given you so much grief in the past. I didn't mind so much the random cuts in your music this time because you appeared to be so into your performance (thought your PCS could be higher). And after that fierceness on ice that could rival Ashley Wagner's in her MR program, it was so cute to see you revert to your adorable, childlike self in the K & C. I appreciate how you didn't forget to thank the absent Machiko Yamada.

Please do your best in the FP. I will be praying you make it to the podium.

Kanako preparing for 4CC: 3S-3LO (ft.)

Is that planned for the long? I would love to see her upgrade her content so that she actually will have the chance to podium. I want to see her happy face. She still looked a bit scared to me when she came on the ice today, but I hope that she'll gain confidence from that skate. The SP has been her strength so I'm a bit apprehensive about her LP. Good luck, Kanako!

No, she actually has 3F-3T planned for the long.

I'm soooooooooooo happy for Kanako's performance, hope she keeps it up in the free :luv17:

I was rooting 4 her over Satoko & as usual enjoyed her more
Now she needs to rosk in the free! Clean & passionate as she can!:hap10:

So happy for Kanako! She was great today. I'll be very happy if she end up on podium after LP :cheer:

Revenge!! I am in tears!
There was a lot of unexpected surprises today, Kanako being one of them. :) I hope she can keep it together in the FP. Even if she does not skate clean, as long as the mistakes aren't huge, that would be a big (and nice!) way for her to end her season. And to gain more confidence.

European commentator said that they suspects that they have changed her jumping technique! They say she used to have wild free leg, very leaning forward upper body, weird entry to jumps, but now though she still has that wild free leg, her upper body is much better and her jumps are different now.

Just watched Kanako's SP from today - I really enjoyed it! This was a great example of a skater picking the right song with lyrics and packaging it to fit them. I think even her hairstyle was a perfect match; it was loose just enough and it the right way.

I did like the black pant look, but I think the skirt could have been a bit shorter - it would have shown off her long lines better.

Good Luck in the FS Kanako!
