Kanako Murakami

I'm guessing since he's a Chukyo University student, it's going to be harder to relocate in the near future. Yuzuru is taking online classes at Waseda and Tatsuki left Kansai University for more than a year to move with Anthony Liu in the US.

He should forget the Chukyo U. student farce for now. God has given him a gift and also blessed him with tenacity, and he should use those gifts now while he's young. I don't get the impression that he's interested in lighting the world on fire with his academics right now. There is plenty of time for that later.

:hijacked::dbana: Back to sweet Kanako, I wish her all the best with her new programs and look forward to seeing her at Skate America.

Kanako’s interview translation in Figure Skate Life Vol. 5 in case it hasn't been posted. Good that she feels excited about the tough time she is currently having.

Very interesting to read her comments about herself and Shoma. I really hope she does well. I intend to attend the Skate America practice sessions, and I hope to meet her.

Yeah, but they eventually settle down with coach Sato at Chukyo and then their skating became stagnating...

I simply write up to clarify this point: if this is about Mao and Taka's training during 10'~14', that was because both of them were student/grad student at Chukyo during that period. Coach Sato is their coach and he had to travel to Chukyo to teach them. But Sato has his own home rink, which is Shin Yokohama. Even though Mao is still affiliated with Chukyo now, she doesn't train there as often, perhaps only occasionally during summertime when Shin Yokohama is closed. Or else Mao was training mainly @ Yokohama with Coach Sato during her returning season 15'-16'.

Also, I think the statement re. their skating became stagnating as a consequence of settling down with Sato at Chukyo kind of...an ill formatted analogy. (Taka has been suffering from illness and Mao was brave enough to take the road of re-forming her techniques)

The fact is that the rink at Chukyo is a national training centre for Olympians. I imagine the facility and environment there should be the best for skaters to train. Of course it may not be comparable with facilities outside Japan. But the skaters must be benefiting from training at Chukyo (as comparing to other domestic skaters who may find it hard to get ice time at all). As for training overseas or even leaving the coach, I'm not going to comment on those. I'd take that sometimes there are far more reasons for the skaters to consider any relocated training.

(NB: one final point, I think none of the discussion above has pointed out the 'benefit' of training under Yamada team. Putting the debate about jump techniques aside, Yamada remains one of the most influential Jpn coaches: we have to remember she has brought up Midori Ito. As far as I could see, it's not just Shoma and Kana, other skaters on Yamada/Higuchi's team are also getting the benefit form that, only yet to be proved by actual competitions.)

Good news for Kanako as a stable funding and support from the federation are what skaters need.
Let's hope she'll make good use of that, because so far not so good. But maybe that will give her the motivation to work hard and finally reach her real potential.

I hope so, but lacks of funding and support from federation are what hard working and capable skaters get frustrated in the first place. I would feel really sad if she were in that difficult position. I would not lose any hope yet on her as she bounced back at Worlds in Shanghai after the horrible result at Nationals. Let's see how she does in the journey to the 2018 Olympics.

So Kanako performed Tosca in THE ICE today. She started the program with a successful 3Lo (tano) and her 2A finally looks stable now. She popped a Lutz or a Flip which I am not sure. I hope it was a lutz that she was attempting.

I believe Kanako is assigned to Skate America and Rostelecom Cup, correct? Both of those are loaded fields, but I think if she skates her potential, she can crack the top 6. :)

Yes, Skate America and Rostelcom.

Kanako and Shoma Will compete at Lombardia Trophy 2016 (Challenger Series) 2016 / 09 / 08-09 / 11.

I think that is a well scheduled Senior B for both of them, but especially for Kanako. It will give her a good competitive experience and enough time to improve anything before her Grand Prix events start.

Stephane also comments on Kanako in this article.

It was nice to read that Kanako had a positive training experience with Stephane. Now if she can just bring some of that same positivity to her competitions! I'm really anxious to see how she does at Lombardia.

Before Lombardia, she will compete at a local event 8/13-8/16. Hope there will be some footage of that.

EDIT: Looks like Kanako WD from summer cup. Probably it is too close to THE ICE.
