I hope he doesnt get hounded....I am not a PR person...but I think they should introduce him in some manner and ask for some respect and space, like Alysa did....They deserve that.

Opposites do attract..yet can be successful partners. My wife is a fierce competitor. She beats herself up when she has a bad day at a dog competition. I laugh when I loose at anything competitive....I dont have a competitive bone in my body...the secret to a long marriage is adapting to the other person as they change over 40 years and respecting them as a person and their wants and needs. And if irreconcilable differences develop, you deal with them in a repectful manner and divorce. My first wife decided after 10 years that she really did want a child. So we parted on good terms. If partner A decides they just have to get back into skating and become a pairs skater for another country, you as a couple deal with that the best you can and move on.
I think he realizes just how lucky he is.....whoever it is.

She said she always wanted to announce her marriage and retirement at once. I dont think this was a spur of the moment thing. Since he is not involved with skating, it would be pretty easy to hide their relationship. True, they had to be appart at times but she is worth the wait....I hope the Japanese people are polite enough to not hound them so they can go out in public together....

She is smart enough to know when taking on too much work hurts a relationship. I am sure they have talked about their work and how to compromise. IMHO the first years of marriage can be bliss but it is not good to do stress tests of a marriage during this time...make memories, not issues. Kaori graduated in Sept 2023 so they have know each other for awhile....
