Kazuki Tomono

GUYS! Kazuki will be on the One Piece on Ice show!

He will be playing Koza! Koza is a super cool character but I'm surprised about this choice, as he is an antagonist for part of the Alabasta saga. I was also hoping Kazuki would be cast to be one of the main crew members, but oh well! Really looking forward to this and happy he was included in this project.

Here's the description of the role as per the One Piece on Ice website:
Vivi's childhood friend. Although he cares for the people of Alabasta who are suffering from drought, he is deceived by Crocodile and rebels against the king, becoming the leader of the rebel army.

Kazuki's message:
I was very surprised to hear about this story, but I am excited! This Alabasta episode is one of my very favorite episodes. This is the first time I have been given a role to play, but I wanted to give it my all. The speed and the powerful jumps. The sound of ice skating. The sound of ice skating, the beauty of skating...please experience it right in front of your eyes!

There has been very strange cast choices for this show, apart from Marin Honda. I'm still happy that Kazuki's there.

I actually love Nobu as Usopp! Just the Kazuki choice surprised me, because Koza is like the opposite of his personality lol
But that's gonna be a challenge for him! I'm looking forward to seeing him in this role.

In other news, I forgot to post this from a couple of days ago: JSF posted a little chat between figure skaters and speed skaters (?) talking about what they do on holidays. As you can see, Kazuki was the chattiest and made everyone laugh ☺️

Apparently he said something along the lines of 'I don't really have a day off'. I saw some fans on Twitter expressing worry because his schedule is too packed with shows and he won't have time to rest, train and stabilise his quads. NGL I'm a bit worried too...

I always loved (and still love!) La La Land. What always amazed me was that he would finish skating it (with that killer step sequence at the end), and he looked like he could have skated it again with no problem. :bow:Heck, I was exhausted just watching! He definitely knows how to draw the crowd in.

Kazuki was a special guest at Shoma's Colan Totte event from Nagoya, along with our favorite poodle, Emma chan. Kazuki read some of the questions fans had submitted. You can tell by the easy way Kazuki and Shoma have with each other that they are special friends.

TY, so sweet..

High compliments from Shoma to Kazuki... but he's just speaking the truth as always 😂

After the event, we talked about PIW.

#ShomaUno to #KazukiTomono (La La Land).

"I talk about it amongst the athletes, but if you watched (Kazuki) from the middle without seeing the jumps (only the choreo step), you would see the momentum of someone who has made no mistakes in his performance. Something other athletes never have. I also show my emotions when my jumps don't go well, or when I don't feel like it. Kazuki's choreo step at the end was wonderful, no matter how he performed, and it led to a good score. I think it is also something I am lacking, to express myself with such power and strength, and with all my feelings."

This is great for Kazuki! But it also needs to be said that Shoma is such a great sport indeed :)

Thank you for sharing this, I really love the way Shoma advocates for his friends and voices his appreciation for other skaters in general ❤️

They reminisce about the time they supported each other at Rostelecom 2019 😭

Shoma Uno & Kazuki Tomono surprise talk: "What are we going to do...?

Men's Figure Skating two-time consecutive World Champion Shoma Uno (Toyota Motor Corp.) participated in a talk event for the magnetic health gear "Corantotte" at Chukyo TV headquarters in Nagoya City on May 6. Surprise guest Kazuki Tomono (Uenoshiba club), 6th place finisher at the World Championships for two consecutive years, also made an appearance and gave a light-hearted talk.

Uno mentioned Tomono as one of the skaters he is close with. He asks me about anything in a tone that says, "It's my number one hobby. I think he is interested in everything. Tomono replied, "I don't think so... (laughs). I am relatively interested in many things. I often find things more amazing than other people, so I like to ask and talk about everything.

The two usually have a lot of fun talking about skating. Uno said, "I don't interact with other skaters at all. I'm going to ice shows with younger skaters than me, and it would be great if they were there to help me. Kazuki is helping me out by taking over for me." Tomono said, "For me, it's not like Shoma is pulling me along and assisting me. I don't mean to say that. I don't want to tell everyone what you want to do or what you want to do. I try to interact with them as actively as possible.

The most memorable competition for the two of them was the GP Series Russia Cup in November 2019. Tomono said, "We were both going through a difficult time," and he began, "After the competition, we talked about the future together until dawn, and what we were going to do. I heard from Shoma for the first time that he was going through such a hard time, and I realized that he is a human being, too, and I thought I would do my best.

Uno also commented, "It spread from the talk about not being able to do better in games than in practice. I wondered why I couldn't do what I was doing in practice as a matter of course in matches. It was a time when we would improve in practice, but it kept not showing in the special place of matches. It was a time when you just had to look up and run with it, and you couldn't get through it with just that momentum," he recalled.

Aw, that's really sweet. I remember being glad that Shoma competed with Kazuki at Rostelecom Cup 2019, but I didn't realize they had a long talk too about their future. Kazuki added another comment to Shoma about struggling to live up to past results in another article that had a fuller transcript, and I realized that Shoma and Kazuki had a pretty similar experience (if on a different scale) after the 2018 Olympics and 2018 Worlds. They both had a "big" result (Olympic medal for Shoma and Worlds Top 5 finish for Kazuki) and had to figure out what to do if the things they have been doing ("running in full force") doesn't work and they didn't live up to the results afterwards. It made me realize how far they have both grown since then, and how they changed their approach to their goals and skating as they both mature.

Just sharing another sweet comment from Shoma about Kazuki 😭❤️

Meanwhile, non-no magazine announced they will do a WHOLE WEEK of celebrations around Kazuki's birthday! 🎉
There will be several articles published according to the schedule below. I can't wait!!!

Just sharing another sweet comment from Shoma about Kazuki 😭❤️

I think there's been a mistranslation, since this is actually Kazuki's comment about himself and the programs that he loves 😅

Tomono added, "I also have memories of growing up as a skater, but programs like 'The Americans in Paris' in my last year as a junior skater, it was a program that really changed my image. The same goes for "West Side Story" and "La La Land". I think I have a lot of love for all the programs.

Ohhh thank you for clarifying! It's still a nice comment, but from Kazuki about himself 😄
Yes! Hehehe. You can see the difference in personality of Kazuki compared to Shoma in that answer, LOL. Shoma's previous comment about Kazuki is right though. And it's very Shoma to notice what is "unique" about the work of each skater and point it out. He doesn't have the exact same compliments for two skaters.

I'm so happy that Shoma and Kazuki share a sponsor together in Colantotte. Honestly I think Kazuki has enough fans to make his own fan meeting next, so get to it, Colantotte boss!
