Kazuki Tomono

I can see Kazuki developing into an all-round entertainer in Japan when his skating career is over
Thank you. That is actually his ultimate goal - of course, he wants a Worlds medal and/or go to the Olympics, but he stated that beyond that, he wants to have a career in entertainment and receive invitations not only to perform in Japan, but in other parts of the world, too.

What Dai-chan is saying is effectively: 'you are already very good. You deserve these opportunities', which is particularly powerful in the context of JSF denying him opportunities through underscoring, no championship assignment, no special funding, no invitation to Dreams on Ice or the Italian gala. Everything JSF is doing to him conveys the message: 'you are not good enough', to which Dai-chan is (perhaps inadvertently) responding: 'yes, you are' 🔥

We have another proof of how much Kazuki is motivated after Hyoen (and Dai-chan's words) - Ayumi Urabe (who played young Yuki in Hyoen) tweeted:
'The child Kakeru and the child Tokio.
We'll be together from now on! Always!
Aaaaah! Always!
I was crying behind the scenes.

After that, 'It's over, isn't it?
was the end from the bottom of my heart.'

and Kazuki replied:
From now on, we each go on to pursue our own dreams.

Meanwhile, non-no once again produces the goods, releasing new pictures from the Kazuki/Dai joint photoshoot :love2:

So Kazuki performed in Fantasy on Ice in Kobe? If I am reading the translations correctly he did a quad sal?
Yes, he performed today at FaOI Kobe, he did a show version of 'Happy Jazz' which included a quad and he also landed quads in the finale. Everyone was amazed since 1-he just finished Hyoen and 2-he was struggling a bit with jumps at some points in Hyoen. I guess it was probably not easy to jump in the Hyoen costumes, and also FaOI is a much more traditional ice show which probably makes it easier to concentrate on the jumps.

However, the most significant development from today is his collaboration number with Yo Hitoto, 'Tanin no Kankei', which translates roughly as 'Relationships with other people' and it's about... casual s*x. Yes, you read that right 🫣 It's a super famous song and it was the theme of a TV drama called 'Hirugao: Love Affairs in the Afternoon', which is about two married women that have extramarital affairs 😳

So, let's recap. He went from a cute junior high student and reliable emergency worker in Hyoen, to a number that's quite spicy - apparently he wears a sparkly red jacket and the choreography shows a bit of his shoulders at times. Moreover, according to fans, the choreography incorporates both male and female moves, with his presence highlighting Yo Hitoto's aura as an 'interesting woman' 🤯
So yeah... I really want to see this, sounds like he's showing us a totally different side of him... again 👀

Here's the song with the DeepL translated lyrics below

Whenever we meet, we're two strangers
Last night was last night And tonight is tonight
With ticklish fingers
And count the moles from one.
Yes, for the first time we'll see each other
We'll burn again.

After we love each other, we're both strangers.
You are you and I am me
Love between adults is like a little bird.
I always want to be free.
And when we love each other, we don't want anything to come between us.
When we love each other.

Two strangers whenever they meet
Unconcerned and unconcerned And adult and adult
Whenever we meet
We give each other a different kiss
And we surprise each other.
Yes, it's the first time we see each other
We're on fire again.

After loving, two of us, one of us a stranger
A man and a woman, and one and one.
You can forget me.
You can get lost.
I'll get you back again and again.
I'll bring you back.

Of course we know that Kazuki Tomono masters this jump, but competition ice (except in Grenoble, let's hope that they got the message for Grand Prix Final) is usually better than show ice, furthermore in a show the dim lights allow only jumps the skater really masters well. AND 4S is a "treacherous jump" sometimes called Snake. This is why, the few skaters who jump quads in shows, mostly jump 4Ts, or a tentative jump but then they're not supposed to have a high success rate.
I'm impressed!

Honestly, I'll be gutted if I don't get to see 'Kankei no Tanin'. Some fan comments from today:

I like Tomono-kun's 'Relationships with other people', the first is a sexy man and the second is a beautiful woman move! I see, this is the town's most colourful man and beautiful woman, Eros! I was so excited. And he's a real Showa-esque eroticist, Tomono-kun.

Yo Hitoto was amazing today and I really liked her collaboration with Tomono-kun. I watched the story wondering whether it was a manga or a drama, with a young, mischievous, handsome man being played by an older, beautiful woman.

I had heard that Tomono-kun was really, really amazing, but he was seriously really amazing
What is that alluring quality? Because of that, I couldn't really focus on the performances of the people who came afterwards.

Tomono-kun Other people's relationships
Highest impact in the first half.
I think that's true even if you deduct the fans' favouritism.
Not only the unexpectedness of the character, but also his movements were so refined.
His jumps, including the 3A, were also very good.
I've seen some amazing things.

I was told that I had never seen Tomono-kun like that before, so I was wondering what I was going to do in the front row, and I thought to myself, no, but it's not good to raise the bar too high, calm down... but I exceeded the bar that I raised too high, and it was the most awesome and awful thing ever! It was a bad Tomono-kun, my throat is throbbing and it's hard.

You know, the most amazing thing is that apparently he's been landing nothing but 3A and 4S at FaOI, and his success rate has been pretty high. Today, all his jumps were perfect, he landed two 4S, one in 'Happy Jazz' and one in the finale. It's almost like, after Hyoen, he flipped a switch and went into competition mode 🙀

Meanwhile, a couple of updates from Hiraike-sensei yesterday:

Lots of updates from yesterday... First of all, we learnt that Sasahara-senpai choreographed Kazuki's FaOI collab again this year:

Apparently, Kazuki said that they (him and Sasahara-senpai) struggled a lot with this number, but when he was able to rehearse with Yo Hitoto, it gave him confidence. It seems that the song was chosen by the FaOI organisers, because they felt that Kazuki would be able to pull it off 😳

Here's a pic of Kazuki (wearing the 'Tanin no Kankei' costume) and Yo Hitoto:

Thank you, now we know how and where he spent his birthday! I was touched when he said that, even though he was working, it felt like he was on holiday for the first time in a long time 🥺 Poor thing, he works so hard... I hope he does get to have a proper holiday before too long.

https://nonno.hpplus.jp/series/tomono-monogatari/146911/area05/ Long article about furniture and wood..at the very end he talks about choreography.
I had such mixed feelings reading this article... On one hand, the craft shop does look amazing, and he seemed really into it. On the other, I feel sorry for the poor trees 🌳😢 I wish they used vintage wood rather than natural wood.

The bit about choreography in the end: I had the opportunity to perform in many ice shows this off-season, and now I only have "Fantasy on Ice" in Shizuoka and "One Piece on Ice" left to go. I had a very fulfilling time at all the ice shows I performed in, especially in "Hyoen 2024 - Kiseki the Crossed Star", which was a new experience for me. I hope to be able to talk a lot about this in the next article in the series. And now that I've been assigned to the Grand Prix Series, I'll finally start choreographing after Fantasy on Ice. It will be a bit later than in previous years, but after that I will switch over to the season with a bang. I have the All-Japan training camp, and also the team training camp, and in August I'm planning to compete. I made a lot of precious memories at the ice shows, but as the shows went on, I felt a strong desire to work hard for the competitions, so from July I'll be in full competition mode!

Meanwhile, a couple of updates from yesterday:

Thank you for sharing, here's non-no's tweet:

I really love the pics, especially the one of them jumping lol It's also amazing that the reason why we have so much content from this photoshoot is because they are both so experienced that they finished early and they were able to take extra shots 🤯

Meanwhile, Kazuki and Satton were having fun at the FaOI rehearsals:

He performed 'Tanin no Kankei', which once again caused a lot of stir... Apparently Stephane Lambiel was seen on the sidelines doing one of the poses from this programme 😳 It's clearly such a hit.

He also did 'Happy Jazz' with a 3T 4Sot 3A layout. Amazing!
