Kazuki Tomono

May I chime in about "キラキラし過ぎてると、ああっ!ってなっちゃうから"?
I am not a native English speaker so I appreciate Tsurara's English superb translations. I can only comment on キラキラ女子 (kirakira girl).
Kirakira girls are trendy, hard working, socially active in real life and on SNS. They have positive outlook with nice smile.
https://woman.mynavi.jp/article/180706-6/

However some women don't like kirakira girls because they feel inferiority complex, Jealous, overwhelmed, etc. It appears that kirakira girls are high achievers and men, too, feel intimidated by them sometimes and feel it's difficult to keep up with kirakira girls.
I got the impression that Kazuki feels more comfortable with the girl next door type.

Thank you so much for the explanation! :)

Seems Kazuki has on won Kyoto city sports honor award, congrats to him  (The award ceremony will be held on 25/12)

And we got an update from Misha

Congratulations to Kazuki, very well deserved! Boy, this medal ceremony will be straight after Nats, he will be knackered...

Awww Misha... :luv17: I hope we get more updates!

Haha, Kazuki and Shoma playing volleyball, poor Kazuki  I think it is posted by Shoma trainer. It is quite funny and I actually wonder when it was filmed!! But anyway I am happy to see those two together again

Kazuki posted the part when he got hit by the ball in the face and "killed" in slow-mo in his IG story, this boy

Also, Misha posted a video Kazuki while practicing 3A-3T. It is surely hard training with so many people on ice!!

And here is Takahito Mura talking about Kazuki, not sure what he said but I am quite sad they showed his last year's program not this year

lol, thanks for the volleyball video link, AQFS! That's noble of Kazuki to keep Shoma off his gaming screen for a while. Why did they bow before the beginning of the game, btw, is that traditional to do?
Anyway, I am hoping Kazuki can snatch silver at Nationals. Fingers crossed, and good luck!

Figure song festival program made a segment about Kazuki and his short program

They showed that footage when he sheered for Tatsuki Machida before going to Sochi 2014 and I think he talked about how he loves Machida's "East of Eden" program and performance and he mentioned that he aims to reach that type of performance.

Here is Machida's EOE SP.
I think Mashida is a wonderful skater with great skating and artistic skills and this performance had everything

Kazuki is again at it with the first tradition this season

He will be skating first in the 5th(last) group in SP (24 Overall)

It was quite fun watching the draw actually, it was full of laughter. The men reactions and interactions are funny

And LOOOL, now Kazuki has a tie with Ramen dish printed on it  Ramen Tie is going to be the trend now

Mura explained a bit about Misha (simple profile and that he's doing the choreo) there for Japanese casual audience (who don't know much about foreign skaters) and suggested to keep an eye on Tomono-kun's performance to pay the most attention this year as one of the most potential winners on the podium (after Shoma and Daisuke). I was a little bit disappointed that the show only listed the top 3, but they wouldn't be able to afford enough time to list all my favs anyways

As for showing his last years' program, I think it may have something to do with the copyright kinda stuff. It would be a lot simpler for them to just show from their own broadcasts. (Or maybe they just wanted to show the last years' Nationals.)

Tomono-kun ganbare!

Kazuki is the clear leader in the last group. He's got some very nice company there, too. Good luck in the short, Kazuki! Do your best!

Thanks a lot Tsurara for the translation

I can't believe it is the day already!! I read Kazuki's run-through in yesterday practice was a bit rough with the jumps but hopefully, he will be able to bring it up in the competition

Not sure if I am ready but it is just a few hours to the men SP, let's do it Kazuki!!

AAAAAHHHH I'm not ready either! Just please do well Kazuki!

On a different note, Kazuki watched the Ladies today with Shoma, Koshiro and Stephanie Lambiel (Koshiro's coach): https://twitter.com/yawning_shoma/status/1076082990411902976?s=19

Love this ladies cheer quad :luv17:

Honestly, I hope I have the courage to watch the SP live broadcast since I always get so nervous for our boy that I end up checking it afterward rather live :o:

Meanwhile, I saw this CM for the nationals and it is really good

A video introducing SP Group 5 in which Kazuki will be skating first today, including a message from skaters. I really love these introductions and after interview videos, the skaters are all so precious and I am happy to see the all getting some proper introduction and some appreciation of their efforts afterwards, that is the least they deserve (even though I didn't understand anything from what they say but you just can't help but get emotional :luv17:)

On a funny note, Kazuki's Ramen tie make it to the headlines

I hope Tomono-kun is gonna show us his best FS on Monday. He can do it. :yes2:

Here's a translation to his after SP interview.

***

- Looking back at your SP today, what did you think of your performance?

Well, I tensed up a bit at the quad, so that (is one I need to reflect on). And I was hoping to be confident enough for my performance, but I’m afraid I lost to myself a bit. So, with those in mind, I’d like to solve those problems and improve them at FS.

- This (season's) program of yours has a quite different atmosphere from your previous ones, and I think you drew the audience into your performance. What do you think?

This program itself is really my favorite. I love this program, I love the music, and I love the movie, too. So I really wish to express the worldview with my performance. As far as expression is concerned, I think I did fine, and I just need to improve my jumps.

- So, you’ll be trying your best at FS to get the spot for Worlds. Please express your enthusiasm for it.

Well, now I just need to bring myself to do it, and I need to be confident enough at FS. I’ve done all that is needed, have practiced a lot, so I would like to perform well and not betray myself the next time.

***

Here is the drawing session after the long evening, which you all may have already checked out by now. I was actually a bit worried when I looked at the interview right after the performance, but you can see him laughing and smiling at a joke they made about Shoma leaving the room after drawing his and without thinking.

Thanks Tsurara as always for the translations

I was (and still) quite sad about his SP so can't bring myself to write much :sad21:

But I hope he will go all out on Monday and have a satisfying FS, ganbare!

Thank you again, Tsurara!

I also was feeling so down yesterday after his SP :(

He was visibly nervous, and this was reflected on the fact that he made a mistake on the quad and lost levels on spins :sad21:

All I can hope is that he 'pulls a Zhenya' and manages to come back strong in the FS

I won't have time today to watch and maybe not even to check the results, so I'm here to wish Kazuki best of luck in the free! May he get a lot of cheers and put up a fight for the podium. He can do it!

All fingers crossed for Kazuki and Shoma (which is making typing interesting...)
