Kazuki Tomono

Great news indeed :hap10:

Actually I saw him mentioning about the company in his Twitter bio for sometime now (I think after RGP although not 100% sure) and you can also see him wearing their jacket in Japan's nationals. I guess they were just waiting for the nationals to be over so they can announce the news.

Hope this helps him developing his abilities and grow more

Also, seems we will be getting interview with both Kazuki and Misha in the next edition of Quadruple Axel. Will love to know more about their relationship :luv17:

That's wonderful! He deserves recognition...

Cute friendship alert! Has anyone seen Kazuki's latest instastory?

It shows three bottles of Osaka cider ('ciders' are non-alcoholic soft drinks in Japan), and above them two names: 'Sota' and 'Taichiro'.

So it turns out apparently he went to the hot springs with Sota Yamamoto and Taichiro Yamakuma (another skater from Osaka).

I'm glad he seems to be relaxing and enjoying his time with friends! The boy deserves a rest, although he has another competition next week already (intercollegiate)... :drama:

Yah saw it, it makes me really happy too knowing he is having some fun time with his friends in a hot spring

Kazuki, Sota, Taichiro, Have some fun babies, you deserve it :luv17:

That Kazuki costume tho... :palmf:
That's from "Muthu", right? I remember his performance in it, it was really neat!!!
I don't know who picked that tune and the costume back then (probably Misao-sensei if not him, but not sure)
but I always thought he's got a great taste in his choice of music! :peace:

IIRC that season he had a 'Maharajah' SP and an 'Egyptian' FP

Guys, did you see Misha's latest Instastory? https://www.instagram.com/p/Br_D5VvhHah/

I will miss the duo! Although I'm pretty sure they'll be together at 4CC again

I see that you got the exotic part! but his SP was Japanese-themed, and his free program was from Bollywood :roll5:
I always forget the title of the other movie but "Muthu" (Japanese title, "Muthu, the Dancing Maharaja") made a huge hit in Japan about when Tomono-kun was born (and a second boom again later).
I'm sure you can recognize some movements Tomono-kun showed in his performance.

(By the way, sorry, apparently it's Hiraike sensei who came up with these stuff, according to Kenji's interview from last year:o:)

BTW, do you happen to know what Kazuki's saying in his latest Instastory? I wonder what's in his bag?

Hmm.:scratch2: It just says, "こんにちわ~" and "おや?" The former is just "hello~", and the latter is like "oh?" or "WTH?" or w/e, describing the speaker noticed something odd or new or neat (whatever that stands out in sight and makes the speaker wonder what's going on). I don't get what that's supposed to mean (I don't follow his SNS much, I only watch his performances and cheer), but his fans seem to know what that is and think what's in his bag is a "kawauso (otter?)". But I may be wrong.

Thanks, Tsurara! Yes, it looks like it could be an otter plush  Also, his rainbow moustache is hilarious!

I'm sure it wasn't his intention, but his look and sense of humour in this pic remind me of 1960s Beatles... ;)

Thinking about Kazuki in 4cc, I really hope he gets some help in his jumps before the competition and also during his preparations for next season. I quite appreciate Misha helping him with his skating skills and artistry but I don't quite think he could do much about his jumps.

I am getting quite worried about his 4S being so unstable this season and also I came to know about him trying to master his 4T since 2016 (although not sure if this is 100% true) and we see he still not able to add it till now to his programs. Also we saw he has been getting some UR calls in his compos and triples.

So, I do think he may need to seek some jumping coach that could help him more regarding his jumps, in general, to also enhance the quality of them.

I don't know if you know it, but he does have a jump coach.
But unfortunately the issue is not so simple. The thing is, FS relies A LOT on muscle memory. So, if a skater learns subpar technique as a child, is VERY difficult to change that as an adult.

Take Zhenya, for example. She is currently struggling A LOT because she is trying to re-work her jump technique, and this season despite being a two-time World Champion and Olympic Silver medallist, she wasn't selected to go to Euros and it's very unlikely she will be in the team for Worlds. Why, do you ask? Because, even if she does great in practice with her new technique, doing it under the stress of a competition is a whole different ball game. Under stress, it's a lot easier to revert to old habits because of muscle memory.

Coming back to Kazuki. Unfortunately his jump technique has issues that are very difficult to fix, notably his weird air position and axis. In order to fix that, he would have to spend a lot of time on it (several seasons) and he would be even more inconsistent for a while before it would get better. So, realistically, what he can do for 4CC:
- Make sure he doesn't lose levels on spins. This was one of the problems he had on his JNats SP, in addition to the fall on the quad Sal.
- Improve his skating skills so he gets higher levels on the step sequences.
- Remain calm so he doesn't make silly mistakes on jumps.

Please don't get me wrong, I do believe he is going in the right direction. As for the 4T, yes he's been trying for a long time, but it was only this summer that he managed to land it in practice. So there is progress and room for improvement. But we need to be patient.

I am definitely new to the FS world and not that knowledgeable technically so thanks @KiraraChin for the insights. I did know he has another coach but thought it might be good to seek another experienced coach who can give him some more hints and work with him as well given he has more resources compared to before.

But yeah, I do know it is not an easy and fast process and that is why I actually want him to start as early as possible to work on that while he also works on other parts of his skills that he has been focused on with Misha. We might not end up with the perfect result with his jumps but I do believe he can sure improve.

Actually, I do think that the changes and enhancements he has been doing on his skills may be one of the reasons his jumps not getting together well since he might need time to adjust and get it all together. As I said before season starts, he is doing lots of changes this season and I might say that he was kind of over ambitious with what he wanted to do so it was obvious that it won't be easy to accomplish all of that together and wasn't surprised he shelfed the 4T for this season to focus more on other parts. So yeah he surely needs time and better strategy for his trainings but I am more than happy to wait and see the result.

BTW, I do follow Zhenya and her struggles this season. I do admire her bravery and hope things get better with her next season. I think also Yuzu struggled and didn't do that well in the first season he switched to Brian since such step is not easy at all (and specially in her case given her status and the tremendous pressure).

No problem, I actually agree with you on both Kazuki and Zhenya ;)

I just don't think now it's quite the moment to re-tool his jumps, because as you said, he has a lot on his plate already.

But I would love to see him working with Ghislain (the TCC jump specialist) one day, hopefully in a not-so-distant future
