Kazuki Tomono

Kazuki's latest IG story, a beautiful photo!
https://www.instagram.com/p/CHetdLfpIIQ/ Curious about the context, though... Was it taken while he was preparing his egg dish the other day? 😆
That IG story's caption says "Miraculous great Instagram shot taken at Komeda."
Komeda is one of the most popular chain coffee shops in Japan. https://favy-jp.com/topics/431
Their breakfast set menu: https://www.komeda.co.jp/en/menu/morning.html
Kazuki must have eaten the A set breakfast.

Aaaaahhh thanks, rRainbow! It does look like the A set breakfast. I love how we're always learning about Japanese food and restaurants in this thread 😄

Nice nice pics from Sectionals, courtesy of Kishimoto Corporation!

It will be a difficult week for those juniors who also compete at NHK in a few days - Sena, Yuto, Honda, Kao and Nozomu.
Anyhow, I'll be rooting for everyone to stay healthy, and for our older boys to hopefully medal! Kazuki has a fair chance as everyone's made mistakes so far.

NHK starting order for tomorrow: https://twitter.com/BluecosmosH/status/1331851852195872768
Kazuki skates in 9th, at 20:13 (8:13 PM) local time.
Actually, ISU chose of great picture of him for the thumbnail of the SP stream: https://twitter.com/KiraraChin/status/1331638445190602752

Practice report from today, FS run-through: https://twitter.com/figure365/status/1331853911762747395
4T-2T 4S (disturbance) -2T 4S 3Lz 3A (disturbance) 3A-1Eu-3S 3F
I'm not sure what 'disturbance' means, maybe he had to hang on to the jump? In any case, not bad at all! 🙌

ETA: his interview at the press conference
(Google Translate) At the press conference after the NHK Trophy official practice, Kazuki Tomono said, "I have a strong desire to win the big tournament after a long absence, so I want to get out of my way." Up to this point, "I have practiced with a strong feeling, cherishing each day." "Because it is a valuable opportunity to be seen live, I can deliver my performance to the audience and people on the other side of the TV.

As far as I know 乱れ(the 'disturbance') means a bad landing of any sort (hanging on, stepout, turn, etc.), but regardless that was indeed a good runthrough

This article has a pic from today's practice - I think he might be in need of a haircut 😅

Well done to Kazuki! He made his fans proud and really sold his program.
I'll be rooting for him in the FP to hold on to that silver

OK, first the bad news: Kazuki was, yet again, robbed blind. Yes, he had a step out of the 4T, but his 4S and 3A got ridiculously low GOE, and his PCS were deflated to 37 😠 It was obvious that the judges held up his scores as to ensure he wouldn't be ahead of their fave.

The good news, despite everything, he did well overall! Only one level 3 on a spin, more all the rest was level 4! He currently sits in second with 83.27, that's a sweet spot for him as we know he gets nervous when he's the first going into the free. Also, he's not skating last tomorrow! 🙌

Rooting for Kazuki to be on the podium. He came out and really gave it his all in the SP. Shame on the step out, but he came out and skated like it was the last skate of his life! Very nice flow on the exit of the 3A. I've always liked this program. Hope he kills it in the free.

Here's the program with Spanish commentary (the Mamma Mia twins).

Thanks, Arriba! I love how the Spanish aunties always say such nice things about him! I understand a bit of Spanish and I can tell they kept commenting about his speed and power 🥰
Yes, I call them the Mamma Mia Twins. When they get excited, they either yell Olé or Madre Mía. They commented that he had a very powerful, clean 4S. His 3A was impressive, secure, and powerful. He had good speed and strength, and a good interpretation to unusual music. Great Lev. 4 step sequence.

Oh I didn't know you understand Spanish, Arriba! I'm glad to know my understanding was somewhat correct. The Mamma Mia twins have good taste! 😁
