Kazuki Tomono

Okay, I didn't have time to check out Kazuki's SP yet, but at least I have something to look forward to :) Good luck in the free tomorrow! 🍀 🍀
Kazuki winning would be a very nice boost before Nationals.

Kazuki's run-through from today:
He only marked the jumps in the run-through, but the user said he landed many beautiful jumps and combos in practice.
Here's a nice 3A: https://twitter.com/mewmewnewyork/status/1464467171896180736

Also, I saw this news: https://www.sponichi.co.jp/sports/news/2021/11/27/kiji/20211127s00079000296000c.html
The "Autumn Challenge Sports 2021" ice show was held at Maruzen Intec Osaka Pool in Osaka City on the 27th.
10 players based in Kansai will appear. Kazuki Tomono (Central Sports) did not participate because he participated in the GP Series Round 6 Russia Cup, but he "jumped in" with a video message to the audience.

"I also participated in this ice show two years ago. Unfortunately, I can't participate because I'm at the GP series Russia tournament today, but I'm working hard toward the Beijing Olympics, so please support me. . through this event, I am glad and get to know the beauty of figure skating, "

Tomono, mark the 95-81 points to update the personal best in the men's SP of the Cup of Russia, which took place on the day before 26 days lead Start. We will be free on the 27th today.

That's it from me this morning, I'll be just focusing on sending all my positive energy to Kazuki for the free!

OK, let me get this off my chest: KAZUKI WAS ROBBED OF THE GOLD. No ifs, no buts, the simple plain truth is that he was criminally underscored in PCS while others were extremely overscored. Yes, this always happens to him, but this time it hurts more because he was robbed of the first grand prix gold medal of his career. It bloody hurts. I hate Rusfed but I hate JSF even more for letting this happen to him 😭

Having said that, I am extremely proud of him! NGL I was hoping for a top 5 finish and a 250 SB, and what he got was a bronze medal and a 264 SB. Not only that - he finally reached his goal of scoring 90+ in the SP and didn't have a meltdown despite being the very last to skate!

Kazuki said: 'I am really happy about the medal. But I am still disappointed, I am a bit shocked about myself feeling that emotion. Being in the lead yesterday I had the chance to be on top.'

Nerves got to me a bit. It was the very first time I was in such a situation. So I think it was a learning experience. I hope I can skate at the Gala tomorrow and I want to show everyone there what kind of a skater I am.

I hope this feeling of disappointment makes him realise that yes, he is that good, yes he deserves to be among the top men and win medals. Above all, I hope he knows that despite all the judges' clownery, for us the fans he was the absolute star, with his brilliance, technical prowess and huge, huge amounts of charisma.

Just copying something I wrote on another site:
Fun fact: In 2018 he earned his bronze medal at Rostelecom with a season's best score of 238.73. Now in 2021 he won a bronze medal with a season's best score of 264.13 (and we all know he deserved more and should have won gold).

That means that, in three years, he added 25+ points to his score 🤯 This is despite being lowballed by JSF... Now imagine if he had even a sliver of support 🥲

I suspect I will do a lot of 'like'ing here after I have seen the FS. For now, I have the SP on my to-do list, and Kazuki was superb 💐 I will drop here my usual whinge about spin GoEs, but that's a general issue for me, not specific to Kazuki. The rest was awesome. ☺️ How lightly he jumps!
And he really sounds more confident in the interview. Let's hope it's a good sign!

@surimi in order to understand the full scope of the tragedy, you have to watch Misha Kolyada and Morisi's skates as well, both SP and FS. Misha's PCS were highly inflated in the SP, when he made two serious mistakes. Morisi's scores were overall ridiculous, but especially the PCS score was criminal - in no universe he should have had higher PCS than Kazuki, both in the SP and FS 🤬

But oh well. Kazuki was skating in Russia, caught in the crossfire of a political war between the two main Russian coaches (Eteri and Mishin), and left to fend for himself as JSF don't care about him. The only way he could have won was if he had been squeaky clean (and even so I have my doubts), which was obviously very difficult considering it's still relatively early in the season and his lack of experience skating last. All things considered, he did very well to come out of it with a bronze medal.

Here's his free skate protocol: https://twitter.com/Tomono_Infonet/status/1464571904086339589
Not a perfect skate in terms of jumps (but not too bad either), and underscored in PCS, but at least he got all levels again, that's another achievement 🙌

Now, let's just relax and watch Bills! 👔💼 I wonder what kind of publication he'll use☺️

Soooo as expected Bills was 🔥🔥🔥
He also landed a gorgeous 3A in the finale (couldn't help but notice he changed to La La Land costume and landed his 3A in the exact spot he should have landed the second 3A in the free - coincidence?)
I think the full gala video is still available on ISU's channel, and there are also a couple of fan cams:

As for the publication he used, it seems it was the Rostelecom Cup pamphlet, and Japanese fans noticed he actually opened a page that had Yuzuru in it (in an ad for a pharmaceutical company): https://twitter.com/ra_nuit/status/1465005755288125442
Such a nice touch 😭♥️

After that, Kazuki posted twice on Instagram, thanking everyone for the support and sharing some nice pictures of Sochi - he went to the amusement park too! I love that he always manages to enjoy himself in each trip.

Finally, just wanted to share Evgenia Medvedeva's comments about Kazuki:
"He improved so much, his jumps are high and light and I was so happy for him. The LP wasn't how he expected but it still was good, he's still so young and I hope he will push himself and see him on the podium again."
I really hope someone shows this to him, because it will make him so happy - I know he has been a fan of hers for a long time. On a personal note, seeing my absolute fave praise my other fave like that almost made my heart explode 🎆

Overall, the judges and the feds suck, but it's so cool to see him getting so much recognition and love from the fans and members of the skating community! He was really the star of the Men event and deserves all this attention and much more 🥰

Thank you for sharing! ☺️ How sweet to hear Evgenia praise Kazuki! I am glad to see people have a lot of affection towards Kazuki because he has so much aura and appeal. I am hoping his medal will finally show JSF that underscoring him is definitely not a smart idea. 💪
