Kazuki Tomono

Hi I’ve uploaded Kazuki’s run through.
https://youtu.be/hPhUedPB24E

It was not great but after that he managed to land some beautiful quads in the end:clap:https://youtu.be/Xukj-tZQW94

Sota’s seemed most complete today.
I really hope both will make the most of this chance ahead of the NHK Trophy:pray:
Thank you! Kazuki's normally meh in the first day of practice so that doesn't surprise me ☺️

Quote from his interview! That's a good attitude to have, I think:

Here's a wonderful illustration! All the best to Kazuki today 🤞🙏

Here's Kazuki performance from yesterday for those who missed it:

His protocol:

I gotta say, I'm SO relieved and happy for Kazuki. He managed to hold his own even after a mistake on the opening jump, and got good scores for the non-jumping elements too. He is contention going into the free, instead of being way behind like at Neberlhorn

I had a look at his SP from GP Italy, his first GP last season. Back then, he actually did better jump-wise but scored 83.91, mainly due to losing levels in the non-jumping elements and lower PCS. I understand it's a different competition and he back then was skating in the first group rather than the second, but still! We need to put these things into context; scoring 89.46 in his first GP of the season is an outstanding result for Kazuki, and it really shows how much he matured and improved. I'm so proud 🥺:love2:

Good luck to Kazuki in the FS! He has a strong FS, and based on his interview, he also has a good head on his shoulders.
Too bad the video has already been taken down, I unexpectedly had to work yesterday just when the men's SP was going on, and have only seen Sota so far, so I can't post my thoughts on his SP yet. I hope to catch up today after the FS... at least under normal circumstances, I will catch up. No idea what Mr. Competition Nerves will present, and if it goes badly, I'll need some time to recover before I can watch the boys. Good thing I don't need to worry about Kazuki at least!
Those post-SP photos are heartwarming to see. Do the skaters get small medals here, or is it at big events only?

Although Kazuki left many points on the ice by attempting a big program, what he does out on the ice is so enjoyable. His step sequence is so like him-engaging and floats like a butterfly. I'm glad he got a medal because the final 4 could have gone in any direction. NHK is going to be on fire. Congrats on your bronze, Kazuki. He looks like he had a great time in France.

sweet!

Congratulations to Kazuki on his bronze medal. Not his day on the jumps, but I love his performance quality and the way he is able to connect with the audience. I wonder if he needs somebody to review his basics on his quads with him again. It seemed like he was really headed in the right direction with the toe and the sal and able to execute them quite well. Maybe just a nerves issue. I'm sure the pressure gets to all of them when they are likely to podium. Expectations can really play mind games then!

Adding -- Kazuki explains better than I do. And he explains with a smile.

Thank you everyone for the updates, Kazuki with that flower crown was looking so cute :love2:

As for his performance, I knew the mistakes would happen - it's still early in the season for him, remember last year at GP Italy he landed the quads, but then proceeded to flop the rest of the programme 😂 He does need, however, get his act together for NHK and Nationals. The good news is that he is very self-aware, as these quotes show:

The last bit in particular makes me happy because the trend in Men's skating seems to be jumps, jumps, jumps these days. I like that Kazuki is willing to pay attention to other parts of his skating, and I noticed he's now getting his levels and getting really good scores in the StSq (he won the StSq in the free). All his efforts are paying off, he just needs to focus a bit more in the free and control his nerves

Kazuki's gala was awesome! I could only see the first half before my Japanese class began, but his was definitely one of the highlights! He was enjoying it so much.
Now the wait begins for Soeta and the group number ^ ^ (our TV only enables watching it at about 10 PM)

Kazuki's EX was so fun! I must confess I like this EX more and more. He had to improvise his costume again, as he said on Twitter he forgot his undershirt 🤭

Check out these cool pics by Joosep Martinson:

and a cute pic with Haein Lee:

It was! The energy that was emanating from him was incredible! And he sped around the ice like a little rocket.
Did you notice how Sota stuck by his side whenever possible? It must be because Kazuki communicates with Misha and must be considered an eigo guru. ^ ^ When the individual categories were presented at the gala, you can see Kazuki skating forward with the other 4 guys, looking back briefly - likely to look if Sota was following, which he wasn't, and had to join the pairs afterwards. 😃
