Practice notes from today:

He had a light collision with the Ukrainian skater in the same practice group :eek2: But reports say it didn't seem to be serious. Keeping all my fingers and toes crossed.

Hopefully so.
I'm rather a little worried about the news that Shoma has had some ankle issues recently. I hope he's well, and that Kazuki and Sota won't feel under pressure because of it, and the thought of the spots (combined with all those online complainers who wanted Kao or Shun to go to WC, which is even more pressure for both assigned boys). I hope Kazuki will be able to perform as is usual for him at WC, that is, some of the best performances of his career.

Yeah his wording was 'I chose to do my adjustments domestically' which to me suggests that he could have had a spring challenger, but declined to do so. I thought it was silly at first, but now I think it was a smart choice: not only he avoided the hassle of travelling, he got to participate in two smaller, fun events (Osaka and Hiroshima) in which he got undivided attention because he was the only top skater there. So I think it worked well for him!

So Hiraike-sensei's team has a new official IG account! Did you see that @Giu ?

Hi Kirara!!!
Noooooo, I didn't know that! Ahahah you remember that I'm a fan also of Hiraike sensei!!!

I'm so sorry, I noticed your mention only today, I need to catch up with all the news and posts! :drama: And I also forgot the deadline to submit my predictions for Worlds:bang:

Well done to Kazuki! I haven't seen him yet - I'll be late as usual, with 3 more groups of women's SP to watch yet... gah. But - I did say so. That Kazuki always has some of the best results of his season at WC. JSF knew exactly what they were doing when picking him. Mark my words, unless something unexpected happens, he'll be in top10, if not top 6 again.

Here's Kazuki SP for those who missed it:

I'm so, so proud of him. Despite the hard fall on the Salchow, he had the highest value 3A of the event (GOE + bonus) and won the Step Sequence, with a level 4 + near-perfect GOE ✨

At this point, not many men can score 90+ with a fall, and the fact that he did it speaks volumes about his hard work into polishing all aspects of his skating. God knows it didn't come easy for him.

But my absolute favourite thing about yesterday was the outpouring of love from the crowd, the sea of red 'Tomono' flags and Japanese flags for him. I'm sure this played a huge part in the enjoyment and energy he put into the programme.

How about that Kazuki?! Just watched his FS! Talk about bringing the determination, the fire, and the energy! Not a perfect performance, but who cares?! The performance quality was off the charts, and the audience was so into it. Once again, he helps gets Japan's 3 spots for next year. Big congratulations to him. Talk about ending the season with a smile. :cheer2:SO happy to hear the CHEERING audience cheer him on!

Quick quote from FS day

Kazuki Tomono (JPN) 2022 Four Continents silver medalist
I was ridiculously nervous. I thought it was over. However, practice helped me, and at the World Championships, it was the best finish I've ever done. But I felt the Worlds in Japan was difficult. In the midst of a lot of tensio n, I made mistakes in my movements and the timing of the made full use of my strengths.
