Kazuki Tomono

Next, non-no announced that #TOMONOWEEK begins today (12 May) and lasts for a whole 9 days with various types of new content every day during this period, and culminating with the publication of the non-no print edition on 20 May featuring the interview with Kazuki and Dai-chan 🙀 🤯
I knew they were planning something but this is way beyond my imagination... They love him so, so much 😭❤️

Also, Kazuki himself decided to post on his Instagram, with pictures of... SOI! Lol he's a bit behind, bless him.

Lots of content again to post today... First, non-no released a bit more info re: the Kazuki and Dai-chan's joint interview:

DeepL translation:
[Only 2 days to go until his birthday 🎂]
Today we're releasing a sample of the July/August issue of #nonno, which goes on sale on 20 May ▶https://nonno.hpplus.jp/magazine
Kazuki Tomono talks with Daisuke Takahashi, a senior whom he really respects. Mr Takahashi has known about Mr Tomono's appearances in non-no for several years!
The conversation, which miraculously took time out of their busy schedules to be realised, is a reminder of the legendary ice show 'Kassouya', which opened the show. It also includes highlights of "Hyoen 2024 - Kiseki of the Crossed Stars", in which the two perform together again.
The theme of the feature is "The two of us resonate now." The feature is based on the story of the two skaters. Please check out the special dialogue in the magazine to feel the trust and bond between the two of them.

Speaking of Dai-chan, the Hyoen rehearsals started yesterday with a joint birthday celebration for Kazuki and singer Eliana, whose birthday is on 14 May. Kazuki looked sooooo happy 🥹

Both Kazuki and Eliana posted about it on social media and congratulated each other. As with Kassouya, it seems that the vibes in the Hyoen team are immaculate 🫶

Moving on to Colantotte, they released their official report from Saturday's event: https://www.colantotte.jp/news/20240513

This is really funny because some fans were saying that Kazuki entered first and got many cheers, but when the other guys - Koshiro, Rio and Sota - entered, the cheers were louder... I can't help think that the surprise factor factored in this, since Kazuki is a staple in any Shoma event and fans were already expecting him to attend lol

Colantotte also released a fun clip of Kazuki, Koshiro and Sota today:

HAPPY KAZUKI DAY! 🎉🎉🥳🥳
Can't believe our boy is now 26 years old... Time really flies 🥹

He posted on Twitter:
I'm 26 years old.
That's way too early.

Note he already changed his username to Kazuki Tomono (26)

FujiTV's post:

🍜Happy 26th Birthday Kazuki Tomono🧖‍♀️
He broke his FS personal best at his 11th All-Japan 🌟.
He got applause for his spins, "a new pleasure" 👏.
He says he has gained confidence in his expression this season ✊.
Towards next season
🗣️I want to improve dramatically 🔥.

I wish you a wonderful year ⛸🍀.

Happy Birthday, Kazuki! May your wishes come true! 🎂 🥂
I'll be hoping for GP medals for him, and I wonder what he's picked as his programs. When is the next opportunity to find out?

Yesterday, non-no announced the release of two Kazuki acrylic stands: 'casual Kazuki' and 'formal Kazuki' - if you buy them as a set, you get a photo card 🤩
The good news: just like the calendar, it can be purchased internationally!
The bad news: the set went on sale today and is already sold out 😭
But fear not, non-no said they will get more stock...

Also, yesterday, his Mainichi column was updated. As usual, it's a paid article, but it's about his first New Cinema Paradiso programme

The acrylic stand set is now available for pre-order again!

Will you? :) It's rare for Japanese skating merchandize to be shipped abroad, but I hope it becomes a norm eventually.

The problem, at least here in European Union, is that since 2020, shipped merchandise has been subject to lots of customs hassle. Of course the country entitled to VAT is officially the recipient, but the customer has already paid the Japanese VAT... Plus, declaration for the sender is very complex, and can end in paying quite a lot. And they're checking every parcel, and sometimes charge more than due, or interpret custom laws in a contestable way, and don't have enough staff but still don't let packs go. I know a company founded by French people, who were exporting Japanese sweets (such as the famous limited edition KitKat) who had a huge percentage of returns or delays over a month, in spite of being French themselves, therefore able to manage a French customs form, they had to close this business. And another small company, who had lots of international shipping, had to close about the same time, they didn't mention this custom problem, but I suspect that it played a part in their having to cease their trade.
Today practically, for international customers of Japanese companies, there's Amazon who (from people who used them) seems to be exempt of any custom and send for just shipping costs, I really wonder how; and there's the proxies, you pay the item and the shipping to the proxy, then the proxy charges you an amount that can't be determined initially, and can be several times more expensive than the original item.
The only exception is books, there are several Japanese online libraries who ship books for a reasonable amount, but some custom agents wouldn't accept magazines or calendars under that regimen, so it's a bit of a lottery except for, I would say, the "bookiest of books".
It's really sad!

Yes, I will. Pre-orders are available until 26 May, which is thankfully before my payday 😁

@DizzyFrenchie I'm so sorry to hear it's difficult to import stuff from Japan to the EU. I bought Kazuki's calendar, and while I had to wait a a few more weeks compared to the Japanese fans, and I had to pay extra for international postage, it wasn't really too bad. Brexit silver lining? 🙃

While the calendar was expensive (certainly quite expensive for a desk calendar), it was honestly one of the best purchases I've ever made. I look at it everyday, and every time it makes me smile and feel happy. Even when I'm having a tough day, just looking at it makes me feel better. So yeah, for me the price is worth it 🥹

I've seen pictures from Japanese fans who have a whole 'shrine' devoted to Kazuki in their home, with all his merch, postcards etc... Honestly, II would do the same if I could, Kazuki is more powerful than any Feng chui when it comes to bringing in positive vibes lol

Right, so also yesterday non-no released Tomono's Monogatari vol 36

This one is focused on interior design and vintage furniture/items shopping. As usual, you can feel Kazuki's enthusiasm for everything, and it has great pictures! However, I want to highlight the very last bit:
Latest message
Next week I will start a furious May and June with rehearsals for "Hyoen 2024 -Kiseki of the Crossed Stars-", "Fantasy on Ice" and choreography!
I want to run through it without any injuries.

So from this message it seems that he will choreograph his programmes AFTER Fantasy on Ice... Which means that we will only see his new programmes probably at Gensan Summer Cup in mid-August 🥲 It's tough, but he had said before he wanted to spend time focusing on his jumps and basics, so I guess this has been his priority lately. Fair enough.

Also, the non-no staff also had a party yesterday to celebrate Kazuki's birthday! Even without him! How cute is this? I love the 'Tomono coffee' too

Finally, a selection of my favourite fan art from yesterday. Kazuki fans are so incredibly talented 😍

wow, was the Shibuya birthday message something a fan paid for, or was that the owner company's message?
Yes, I will. Pre-orders are available until 26 May, which is thankfully before my payday 😁

 I hope it brings you joy for months to come!

aww 🥲 I mean, are you really sure you don't want to write a fan letter to Kazuki? I imagine he'd be so happy to read about the effect he, his skating and his merch have on you. And the classic Kazuki postcard would be such a personalized addition to your collection...

I guess he already has the music he wants to use in mind, then, and knows the choreo won't take him all that long.
