[Kazuki Tomono's words] ‘First experience’ right hip pain, not fully adjusted, but ‘wise’
<Figure Skating: Grand Prix Series Round 3 - France Cup>◇ 31 Oct◇ Angers, France◇ Men's official practice

-How are you doing now?

Well, my body is in great condition and I was moving really well today, but I hurt my right hip about three weeks ago, so I honestly haven't been able to practice jumps. I did a quadruple jump for the first time in a while since I came here, and I landed a 4T at the end today, but I'm a little worried about the lift of the Salchow, how should I put it? I'm a little worried about the Axel and Salchow, which are my strengths... Overall, my jumps are centered on my right foot, so I'm a little worried about that. At first, I wondered if I would be able to compete, but after moving around today, I felt like I could do it. I was able to jump the toe loop well, so I think I'm heading in the right direction. It's the first time at this age that I've come to a competition feeling like this, so I feel really happy.

-What do you mean by happy?

No, I mean that I've been doing well (laughs). Today was a great experience for me. It's the first time for me to compete without having practised jumping so far. But I just..,

I've done the maximum I can do in other areas, and I think it's a good experience that will lead to my growth. I've had a bit of pain every now and then, but it's not often that something like this lasts this long, so I'm hoping I'll be able to play the game wisely.

Same here, I was legit expecting him to finish in last yesterday 😭 He did waaaaay better than expected, sadly we know JSF won't give a toss, but his tenacity impressed many fans 🥺 As he said himself, he has nothing to lose today, and hopefully yesterday's skate gave him more confidence that he can also survive in the free skate.

Here's yesterday's performance for those who hadn't seen it:

and we have the free skate costume reveal! My first thought is that he resembles Cinema Paradiso v2 at a distance. Can't wait to see how it fits in the programme!

Good fight, Kazuki! Hopefully it will only get better from now on. Recovering from the injury fully is essential. I selfishly hope he'll be able to do GP Finland, but he knows best what his body needs to get healthy. I hope he has fun in the gala.

Sorry everyone, I've been away because, well...

I think I can now say I am a competition hater. I don't know what's worse. The fact the he, the king of pacing himself and being careful with his body, got injured because he needed to get in shape too fast, too soon in the season due to the stupid JSF selection rules. The fact that he then felt he needed to compete with the injury, because he knows he won't have any other opportunities otherwise. Hiraike-sensei's look of sheer worry after he finished his free skate, and according to Japanese fans he asked 'how are you' to Kazuki, as if saying: 'can you walk?'. I hate it, hate it all.

At least I enjoyed his EX, and made me think again how I love his skating and I don't need the stupid jumps or levels 😤

Some updates from yesterday:

- An article about Kazuki's Olympic plans. The main piece of news is that he revealed that he WAS invited to last year's Medallists on Ice and this year's Dream on Ice after all 🧐 But he said he declined the invitation because he didn't think his results were good enough

- Cute update and message from Koshiro on Insta

- A fan uploaded a fan cam of 'Don't fall in love'

Updates from today:

- Kazuki's Smile+ radio corner airs today. It seems it was recorded in Osaka again.

- Fleur Bazaar posted a beautiful message of support 😭

Tomono's skating is like a butterfly dancing gracefully and gracefully around a beautiful flower, and his jumps with outstretched arms and legs are like those of a butterfly in flight.

Thank you for sharing, that's so sweet from Jimmy 🥹

Kazuki posted about GP France yesterday:
Grand Prix Series France Tournament 🇫🇷

Thank you for your support!

It was a very disappointing result, but I'll be in top condition for the next tournament in Finland!

Non-no posted more info about the 2025 calendar. Sales start on Monday 11 November at 10am Japan time. I hope international fans are able to buy it again, and it doesn't sell out too fast

Hopefully that means that Kazuki's recovery is going well. He sounds confident.
I forgot to say, but yesterday he did a live on the F-Ske platform. As it's paid content and I'm not a subscriber, I don't know much about what he said, but in general fans seemed happy and reassured.

Someone mentioned he said he intends to do a full check up on his injury soon, that's great news IMO as it's better to know exactly what he's dealing with rather than trying to just manage pain and end up getting worse in the long run. Hopefully it won't be anything super serious:pray:

Daiichi Jukken announced that #TOMONOCURRY sales will restart from tomorrow (8 November). They also posted that they visited the Tsushiya Kaban factory? Once again it's nice to see the organisations that support Kazuki getting together :)

A collection of gorgeous pics from Kazuki's EX 😍
