Hello Kirill fans!

Kirill Content!

Well the Junior Men's SP has wrapped up in Linz. Sadly I was not able to watch live, but I woke up at 4:30am, couldn't get back to sleep so caught up on him before managing to return to my zzzzs.

https://youtu.be/1B023LAIcew - Kirill's SP!

NGL when the combo happened I seriously said out loud "OMG, he almost died but didn't!" Seriously spectacular save there

He's in 3rd place heading into the FS. I'm trying to decide if I want to get up at 6:10am on a Saturday to watch the top three live. Maybe not...I think my faves do better when I'm not watching 😅

Also for fun...Kirill practicing his SP at the Academy before heading to Linz

Right I'm actually at work so I better be off.

🤞 for Kirill in the free!

Hello Kirill fans!

Kirill came 3rd at Linz today! :hb: :cheer: From my biased perspective his program was the best put together of the top three. Love the music choice and the step sequence and the solo 3A. He looked super nervous at the beginning, I was a little worried, but like a boss he converted nerves into athletic energy.

Just brilliant.

https://www.instagram.com/p/CUyB6_SsP_b - Kirill on the podium. That sunflower is like half his height! I love it :laugh2:

Now it's on to the JGPF! Looking forward to it.

Kirill's presentation is improving and he managed fo get his nerves under conntrol just like his teammate Sonya Muravieva (but not Nastya Zinina unfortunately). I do wonder why he was so nervous though considering he'd already made it to the final. A need to prove it wasn't an accident? I hope this sort of hyper-responsible attitude doesn't take hold, it's not good for one's mental health.

Possibly? There was a lot of complaining about only one win needed to get into the JGPF this season and while it was focused almost exclusively on the girls, the boys couldn't have been left unaffected.

But yes I was very impressed at how he converted those nerves into a great skate ☺️ I hope he hits it out of the park in Tokyo.

Kirill is preparing 3Lz-3Lo for Stage 4 of the Cup or Russia. Not unexpected considering his fondness for edge jumps. I wonder if he is planning to try one of the quads he's practicing (4S or 4Lo), nothing to lose there.

Ok, so putting a quad into a program is really premature at this stage. It's not even the quad itself, it's that it causes the rest of the program to unravel. This happened last season too when they tried 4Lo. Plushenko was right in the K&C, Kirill just gave up on the program after his 4S didn't work. If they are to start adding a quad, Kirill needs to learn to take that mistake in stride and just go on.

ETA: I am not sure though that Plushenko should have said all that to him in the K&C knowing it would be broadcast.

Hello Kirill fans!

There's bad news and good news.

The bad news, no JGPF :( the ISU says it might happen later in the season, but who knows.

The good news! After a rough SP at the Moscow Championship yesterday Kirill almost managed to do a Yuma and pull himself up from 7th into 1st! He did indeed win the FS, but Mark L had a 10 point lead.

https://www.instagram.com/p/CXCpGf_DWic - Kirill being awesome during his FS. ☺️

There's no sign of his SP interestingly enough...the stream ended before it was shown it seems. Probably for the best since as I said it was rough.

That's all for now!

Hello Kirill fans!

You know you're a figure skating fan when upon waking up the first thing you do is check YouTube for the draw.

Which is what I did and Kirill had a very important duty, which was to draw the number that started the draw (if that makes sense).

https://www.instagram.com/tv/CXzNv-PhSlX - Here he is :)

Kirill actually drew 7 in the starting order, so he'll be the first out in Group 2.

Goooo Kirill! :cheer: (I already have his FS music stuck in my head :laugh2: )

You know, that photo from the draw, I feel gave me the first glimpse of what he may look like when he's grown up - otherwise he always looks so childlike.

And, random thought, I admit... he also looked very... Peter Parker-like. Maybe next he can skate to the soundtrack from No Way Home.;)

You're right...it's the jacket, he looks like he's heading for the office later :)

But he is indeed teeny! The smallest lad there today. He's coming up soon! I hope he can keep his nerves under control. Go Kirill! I hope he lands his 3A and gets huge GOE because it's such a good one!

The jacket, yes, but also the hair falling over his face, and, actually, the mask obscuring the lower part of his face so one pays more attention to his eyes.

I missed watching live, and am catching up now - so imagine my dismay when his whole skate was missing from the video. He seems to have done well for himself, though. And yes, he definitely is the smallest here, and so one should keep one's expectations accordingly. All that he can do is the best he can do - and so long as he does that, it's what matters.

For the men, the most iimpotant part of their careers begin AFTER their growth spurt.

I hope you took it better than me...I actually burst into tears when I couldn't get my VPN to work and then the Channel 1 website wouldn't load. I'd been looking forward to it all day!

Fortunately, Pavelsky over in the SP thread posted this link to Kirill's skate:

Post in thread '2021-22 Russian Nationals: Men's SP' https://www.goldenskate.com/forum/threads/2021-22-russian-nationals-mens-sp.90012/post-2872631

Sadly it's not Ted commentary and now we'll never know what he said.

He did skate well, didn't he? Even if the judges gave him the lowest PCS of all, which I'm sad about.

Oh well at least being in the first group means I don't have to stay up until stupid o'clock to see him do his FS. (Music is still stuck in my head )

The stream better behave itself!

Thanks.:)

As for how I reacted - when the video cut from the 2nd group being presented direct to Kirill coming off the ice, I gasped, and exclaimed aloud: "No!" I don't think we missed too much of Ted's commentar, as he doesn't speak during the skate itself - maybe some of his first impressions, which I would like to have heard. As for the rest, I will have to go back and watch it again, because honestly I think I was just too stunned and wasn't really listening to what he was saying, other than gathering the general impression that Kirill had a good skate.

Kirill!!!

I have no idea where he ended up as I'm catching up on the last group right now, but definitely not 6th as I predicted ;)

But I'm so happy with how he went! Not been able to see the SP really threw me off the other day, all I had to go on was the numbers which compared to the others looked bad (like how do you get the lowest PCS behind those who fell like three times? Isn't there supposed to be a cap on scores when that happens?)

Anyway, ignore my rambling, the point is, Kirill did wonderfully! He performed, which is important since he doesn't have the quad down yet.

Congratulations Kirill and may you do incredibly at Junior Nats!

And Merry Christmas everyone 🎄
