It's the Olympic season (possibly KMT/MM's last season). In the US, commentators would make a point to talk about skating to Eric music while KMT/MM were skating which would lead to talking about James and Radford while Kristin and Michael were skating . . . My impression is they want the talk to be about them. Maybe it is KMT's turn to be the star.

Switching music is a no-brainer from my point of view.

I wouldn't say this at all, why should they skate to his music? He's their direct competitor. They'd look ridiculous.
