The document I gave a link to is called "Coaching Ethics Code", so maybe there's another one for athletes, too. But I think that people make too much of it. Even if Michelle were dating her coach, someone would have to officially report it and prove why it's so bad, and hurtful to anyone.Mathman said:That's an interesting question, Ladybug. What I got out of the Olympic Committee rules, as posted by Windspirit on this thread, was that these were sanctions for coaches, not for athletes. So maybe the coach could be sanctioned, but the skater does not face punishment (?)
I can see why people thought Jackie Mero's case was bad: she was married, and the student lived in her and her husband's house. I've heard that her student was of age, but that doesn't change the fact that she violated a few rather important "rules" (for lack of the word). It's a little as if you started dating a foster kid (of age) living with you and your spouse.
Here's an excerpt about reporting violations of the Code:
=====
6.07 Improper Complaints
Coaches do not file or encourage the filing of ethics complaints that are frivolous and are intended to harm the respondent rather than to protect the public.

If Williams is married, that would complicate things, but I don't think they're really dating, no. I've heard that Michelle's dating Larry King.
