I like how with Mirai it says "pb not available." What a debut!

Rosaleen, thanks again!!! :agree:

I'm tired of all the whining about flutz. You first have to land on your foot, not butt before worrying about flutz.

Only diehard figure skating fans know flutz/lutz, for most figure skating spectators, who cares? If you don't have microscope, It's an non-issue.

Isn´t a flutz actually a lutz, so why bother having another jump then called luzt if the skater don´t do them correcly. For the audience it doesn´t matter (and in galas/shows), but it´s a comp and therefore an issue!

I don't see any skater who can do a 100% lutz. So to me, it's an non issue. Just Caroline and Sasha's detractors' are trying to clutch their last straw.

Mao is my heavy favourite, she also has flutz, so what? She is still the most amazing senior lady.

I'd have a clean program with six flutz any day than a program full of pops, falls.

Go Caroline, Mao, flutzers rule!!!

And for others it is an issue. I do believe there are skater who do lutzes. A lot mention Emily having a lutz, I think both Susanna and Kiira (I stick to the Finnish ladies;) have lutzes for example.

Thanks for the reports. Caroline is a very nice skater.

There's plenty of ladies that don't flutz

Thanks for your hard work although I disagree with u on flutz.

Congratulations to flutzer Caroline Zhang!!

My next big hope is the other flutzer-Mao will grab the gold medal!

Flutzers made my day!

Caroline is not just a nice skater, she is truly special.

So happy to root for your favourite who rarely disappoints you.

So, lets just dump lutz/flip and just have the toe pick jump, right?

This sort of elitist attitude of some die-hard figure skating fans always makes me laugh. Skaters, please first land those jumps before listening to these amateurish advice. For the mass audiences? Who really cares?

All the whining about Mao Asada's flutz does not seem to unravel her.

Go Mao next!

Why is it the American Ladies always get rewarded for Flutzs? Even so far as to get +GOE!!! As long as judges refuse to take off points for it they will continue to do them!

At least they rotated the jump completely. Ms. Samson couldn't even do that.

And there usually is a deduction for a flutz.

And what about the lip? Skaters don't seem to get a deduction for a flip taken off on the wrong edge.

And she also fell on a underrotated jump. I guess she's spending too much time fixing her flutz instead of learning how to land a jump consistently?

I know, i know, some die-hard-true-lutz-believers will always tell us they prefer a fall on a 'beautifully executed true lutz' to actually landing a so-called 'flutz'.

What a twisted figure skating world.

If you fluzt you do not land the jump you intended to do or...What I don´t get is if someone flutz and get revarded the same as someone who does not flutz (I´m not talking about this specific comp now) but someone pointed out there is a deduction for flutzing so then it is ok. It is still two different jumps. Some have problems with flip others with lutz so what. Just they don´t get the same point as those who do them correctly then is totaly ok for me.

Actually, I am one of those to whom a flutz is a flutz (flip) and a lutz is a lutz. A triple flip is much easier. The back outside edge is much more difficult and harder to control-therefore, a real honest to god lutz ought to be rewarded.

Why do so many Americans do this? American skaters have drifted over to the straight line approach which lends itself to cheating. BUT SEE Alissa Cysn(sic) who does one of the only pure triple lutzes in the world. Kimmie is also usually clean. Cohen was never able to do a triple lutz, a fact the judges did indeed seem to overlook much to my irritation.

What bothers me about flutz/lutz is that by not deducting or not deducting enough for a flutz for the skaters that flutz means that the skaters who work hard to develop a proper lutz don't get enough credit for doing a proper lutz.

(and yes, I've skated and I know the difference in the feel of the 2 jumps - they're Different jumps - doing a proper lutz gives you a 'pop' off the edge that you don't get unless you take off form a true outside edge)

Caroline wasn't the only skater that flutzed (and she is a beautiful skater) but she was the only one of the top skaters that had a really blantant flutz (as far as I could see there wasn't even an attempt to be on the outside edge) - that's why I commented on it.

The problem is many would say that its not a triple lutz, its a triple flip. And its unfair to the people who take the harder risk of landing a triple lutz, that Mao sometimes if everything else is landed clean, gets points for a triple lutz, rather than a triple flip.

Personally, I wanted Mirai to win this competition (and not because of the flutz issue because she may flutz.) But oh well, 2nd at Junior Worlds for your first international is pretty darn good.

As for someone who doesn't flutz, Yu-Na Kim has a clean lutz.
