Leah Neset & Artem Markelov

Leah Neset (born on December 7, 2005 in Minot, North Dakota) and her husband Artem Markelov (born on July 10, 2003in Volszy, Russia) are an ice dance team representing the US.

At the senior level, they are the 2025 Kinoshita Group Cup bronze medalists and the 2024 Lombardia Trophy bronze medalists.

At the junior level, they are the 2024 World Junior champions, the 2023-24 JGP Final champion, the 2023 JGP Bangkok and Osaka champions. They are also 3-time US Junior National champions and the 2022 JGP Italy bronze medalists.

They are coached by Elena Dostatni.

Leah previously skated with Dimitri Tsarevski (2018-19), while Artem previoulsy skated with Kristina Makeeva (2019-20).

I noticed that their win at 2024 U.S. Junior Nationals was missing from initial paragraph and competition list in this thread.

Big news from Artem and Leah. Apparently, they are engaged! I thought maybe they were dating, but I did not see this coming, mostly because of their young age. I don't see an official announcement from either Artem or Leah on their individual or joint Instagram pages, but these photos published by their photographer tell the story. According to The Knot, they have set a date of June 1. I’ve already seen snarky and critical comments on another site due to their age, a perceived uneven power dynamic (I don’t see this as they're close in age) and his citizenship status.

I really like this young team. Their on ice maturity, skating skills and performance level is astonishing. They will make a big splash at US Nationals whenever they decide to move up to senior. I hope their personal relationship is equally successful.

Somehow I am not surprised by this news; the photos are exquisite. They have been partnered for a long time so a natural extension of their relationship. I wish them much joy, growth, inspiration, simplicity of spirit, a good life together.
