Leah Neset & Artem Markelov

Artem and Leah take the bronze medal at Kinoshita Cup. RD was energetic and well done.. I really loved the their music choices and costuming. FD was regal and works so well as a panoramic of Napoleon’s campaign; costumes are of the age and beautifully realized. Artem had a misstep out of the closing pose but the dance itself was lovely. Posting the FD as long as it stays up.. could not find a video of the RD

If you go to the FS Cool Russian forum they have the RD under Leah and Artem’s thread.

They have one GP assignment, Skate Canada 🍁.. I hope they will do another challenger as well. Really really looking forward to watching them this season!
Leah and Artem are entered in Denis Ten Memorial Challenge in early October!

Where is the FS Cool Russian forum?
Likely not the thread’s official name; searched the Russian related threads on GS but could not find it. A random search had their RD on X which I was able to see but cannot find again. I don’t subscribe to X so no surprise. Look forward to seeing them again… twice!!

It's a Russian forum, like Golden Skate or FSuniverse. I don't read Russian so I ask Google to translate the page and I can read it quite well. There are discussions for individual ice skaters and the users are pretty good about putting up photos and videos right after the competitions. Plus the discussions are quite interesting! Definitely worth a look!

Many thanks! The interest in this team is noteworthy and gratifying. They are the full package! 🦋

A joy to see them at Denis Ten; loving their programs this year!
A tough competition and I am puzzled at their placement but it was a tough line-up. They held their own🤩 The FD is chef’s kiss 😘 exquisite

I was panicking when the YouTube link wasn't working or was deleted or whatever in the hours just prior to the competition start time. I would have been so disappointed if I couldn’t have seen Leah & Artem’s free dance. I thought they were great, but I am worried as their scores are lower this season than last season, so far. One of their lifts at the end was called level 1 and it was level 3 at Kinoshita. Also, I really loved their ending at Kinoshita (minus the stumble by Artem) and wish that they hadn’t replaced it with something else entirely here. I’m talking about this move in the photo below.

I agree; IMHO their scores at this most recent event reflect their status as “new kids on the block” (given the competitive line-up) with very little to do with how they actually skated. Of course I am biased but, as I said, they held their own. Skate Canada should be interesting

Good luck to Leah and Artem in the Rhythm Dance on Saturday at Skate Canada! 🇨🇦 The competition is tough, that’s for sure, but I want to see them do well at their only GP event this season. Hopefully next season they will be assigned two spots.

Also, I thought they might be entered (or listed as substitutions) in one of the Challenger events coming up at either Warsaw Cup or Tallin Trophy but they aren't, which leaves them with a lot of time before Nationals. There is Zagreb that hasn’t released the entry list yet, and I'm thinking they might be entered there in early December (they competed there last season).

I saw their practice at Skate Canada yesterday and thought they were spectacular! Can't wait to see their rhythm dance tomorrow. They have not been on my radar, but I will for sure pay more attention to them.

Their placement in the RD is a huge disappointment but they performed lights out and I enjoyed it. Today’s FD will be interesting though I don’t expect much movement in placement given the field. Their youth seemed to be held up as a decided disadvantage imv juxtaposed against seasoned veterans in the sport heavily into mature content. They took it all in stride as usual.. great and are the future, no question. Hope they get one more assignment “somewhere” before Nationals (where they should do well fingers crossed).
