Li Zijun

I think the "blade" sound is perfect. Usually I am very sensitive to blade sound. as a hardcore figure skating fan, "blade" sound is a inseparable part of figure skating at least to me (or some famous choreographer such as Lori:biggrin:). From the sound of a skater's blade, you can understand a lot about this skater.
sometimes, dedicated choreographers even utilized the blade sound and incorporate into their art.
I dont know why, but when I watched your zijun edit for the first time, I was surprisingly touched. I think it is perfect, the blade sound is not loud at all. The music, zijun's movement quality and the texture of zijun's blade sound created something special.
I also watched your Satoko edit, both beautiful music and movement and Satoko's blade sounds different from Zijun's, but it not gelled as well as Zijun's. I liked the original version better, because it fully showcased Satoko's musicality. but your slow-mo mix is a genius idea especially from the same game soundtrack. (again the first I have ever seen).
JuliaLip is far from my fav skater, but I always keep my mind open(BTW, I watched your 4-in-1 JuliaLip SP edit, great HD stuff, but just too much chaotic movement for me:p). Any great fan edit suggestions from this poster?

okay I dont know if this analogy is appropriate or not, Zijun's edit (blade sound and all) feels like add croutons to your garden salad. You get the idea:biggrin:

That's cool to hear. I'm glad you were touched by this edit. I was probably touched for a slightly different reason... while Li Zijun is a beautiful and musical skater, the song is very nostalgic for me. I guess having the two combined seemed like a neat idea. Also, the moving lights on the ice surface (reminiscent of a disco-ball) really works with the pacing of this music.

I also agree with you on the "blade sounds": I don't know why most broadcasts these days bury the sound of the blade very low in the sound mix, or is simply non-existent. Not sure if this is a product of not mic'ing the rink sufficiently, or just something that is altered in the sound mix editing. In any event, I wish I could hear every nuance of the blades during programs... though I'm not sure how others may feel about this, as I could see it possibly being distracting for some?

I hope Zijun does well at her two events! I'm hoping she'll make the podium in at least one of them; if she skates well with no URs, she definitely has the ability. I just hope the judges don't hold back on her PCS scores if she does well.

Here is my remixed version of one of her best efforts on ice. 2013 WC FS.

Jump technique thru the roof!!!!!!

I don't understand why the last video I made of her is the lowest viewed of all my video's. This girl has serious appeal and has potential beyond what we've seen. Go Zijun!!!

While she has fans all over the world, the majority of views would be Chinese. So, the challenge is attracting a Chinese audience. (And YouTube is blocked in mainland China... :bang: )

Could it be uploaded to youku?

Maybe it already is? (I have no idea if it actually is or not, but a lot of popular FS videos tend to find their way to Youku on their own.)

I personally don't care for the site (compared to YouTube), it's a bit difficult to navigate/maintain videos there, even with Google translate. But yes, it is the method most Chinese will be using to view online videos, so that counts for something. The wiser ones will just VPN to Taiwan to see YouTube.

Goodness me.... this looks good very good. Her Skating Skills really improved...deep edges, flow, arm movements more elegant and natural, and there seem much more power and strength in her skating... while maximize her 'inner grace'.

Gosh... you are going to break my heart Zijun if you get crap PCS again!!! :hopelessness: Fingers crossed for you to sort out those $$$ jumps!!! :cheer:

All I wanna say is that Zijun please clean SP at least once this season and pray for fancams. I will for sure collect them. Figures crossed!

Zijun's interview about program and tech (similar to S/H and Han's:biggrin:)
Original article in Chinese
http://sports.sina.com.cn/others/winter/2015-09-06/doc-ifxhqhui4873033.shtml
My translation: :p
about SP:
It took us a whole month to choose SP music, In the beginning, Lori gave me 3 choices: clair de lune, over the rainbow and priest music(or church, gospel music). She and I both struggled with music choice. Since the worlds is in US, Lori thought that if skate to "over the rainbow",it might have a better interaction with the American audience. Lori has found 7 versions for me. but was not satisfied with either. Felt it was a bit juniorish for a mature senior skater. But since I had to go back to China for the ice show at the time, therefore, we choreoed an EX number first. that is "the water is wide". To distinguish my performance style (from EX), therefore, eventually, we chose "Clair de lune". At the time, Both Carolina Kostner and Mao Asada thought that this music suits me as well. Mao has skated to it before and liked the music very much. They all hope that I could improve to another level through this music vehicle.
about Tec:
SP is still 3F+3T、3lo、2A, but depends on my training condition, I might change to 3T+3T、3F、2A, could try both lay-outs in competitions this season. Although I never used 3T-3T combo last season in competitions. But I actually had pretty good successful rate of this combo in practice during previous training. Just never succeeded in competitions. Therefore, I didnot use it at the later half of OG season. But I think if I recover (from my previous slump), I actually have some confidence about it.

about FS:
This music is a huge challenge for me. The last part of my FS is fast tempo music. It will be a tremendous challenge for my stamina. which has always been my problem before. The whole program, we selected from 3 different music cut. the first is a waltz, the second is a melancholy music, the last is the fast tempo part. which is also the last part of 2013 Denis Ten's "the artist".
about Tec:
This season, rule change is even more taxing about lutz wrong edge. Therefore, Lori put 3LZ to my second to the last jump. considering, even if put it in the first half, if I got edge call, I could NOT get much plus points,it would be a waste of stamina, Nowadays, rules requires skaters to have a complete set of triples, if lack one type of jump, the jump combo layout choices would be very limited. But I think this is not just my problem (wrong edge), many girls will face the same problem.
about style:
The season, both SP and FS, the style is more mature than before. Mao was there when we were choreo my long, while Caro was with me when choreo my short. They have given me many suggestions and help.Basically, SP aiming at channeling Caro's style, while, FS borrowed something from Mao.
about new season:
First, need to be consistent on tech elements, because tech is the foundation of scores. Further, I wish to improve my stamina. I really emphasized training in this area now. because, at times in competition, I have all the intention to perform but not enough energy to pull it off... I wish I can improve (in this area) this season. Please do not abandon performance quality in the later half... Last year's competitions was like, although all my jumps were landed in the later half, I cannot guarantee quality performance.... Especially, the later part of my new FS is fast tempo music this season, if I can not match up with my music, it would be a waste.

End :)

Zijun is also determined to correct her lutz edge, she is undertaking some really difficult training about that right now.
Good LUCK!!:o:

Thank you for translating!!! It's so cool that she is channelling Mao and Carolina for her programs this year! I can't wait to see the lp! I already love the short! :)

This week's Chinese Grand Prix is in rural Urumqi with an elevation of 1650 meters... she's not going to make it out of the LP alive... :slink:
