Lysacek Withdraws (merged threads)

if it's on Ice Network then it's on a USFSA website, PB...

 I am so bummed....

anyone wanna bet this means we get another year of Tosca from him? *groan* (I love his skating but Tosca just does nothing for me)

Yes, I suspect we're in for another year of Tosca. Not only will he not get to take it to Worlds, he's done well with it up to now. Whether I like it or not LOL.

Bob -- icenetwork is operated under a contract between USFSA and Major League Baseball Entertainment. I won't say it's impossible they've got bad information. But it would surely be a breach of contract for them to print mere rumor, and it would be very foolish for them to endanger their bottom line like that. Probably USFSA will post it on their home page when there is something more to say about the reason for the drop-out.

I find it hard to believe that his skating would just "fall apart" due to blade issues...he seems to have always prided himself in rising above such challenges. Now, an injury is a different story. Had he been injured at all this year or known to have had a lingering injury?

I was hoping to see Johnny and Evan duke it out at worlds....

Oh, on! I hope it's not true. I hope there won't be any news before the World any more. No news means good news.

Can I still be happy for Jeremy? His free program is a little gem, well choreographed, nicely balanced, certainly one of my favourite free programs this year - I am glad he can show it once again.

But - I am really worried about the 3 spots for next year. If Adam Rippon gets his Triple Axel done next season and hopefully some less Morosovian choreography - he probably will be at least third at Nationals. It would be horrible if he can't go just because Johnny can't get his act together. Or different scenario - Rippon also gets a Quad, as does Carriere - and they make 1 and 2 at Nationals, then Evan and Johnny can stay at home and will be forgotten.

Well, I guess its in everyone's best interest that Johnny gets his act together and either Carriere or Abbott skate well enough for a Top 8 finish.

he's had a nagging hip issue for years, and I believe he's even been told by drs that skating isn't the best thing for his long term well being....

not that health is a reason for Evan to stop :chorus::clap:

The ISU certainly doesn't seem to be concerned about the skaters' health. Instead of pushing for higher levels and technical merit, they should be making some technical restrictions and limitations so that these skaters don't continue to jeopardize their skating careers and future health off the ice as well. It's so depressing to read all these injuries and withdrawal reports! :(

I hope Evan will be OK soon. I also hope they'll find another blade manufacturer for him.

This is terrible. I train at his rink and didn't hear a think about it...no wonder he has not been around the rink lately. I am glad that Abbot is going.. he has a great freeskate and it is a great chance for him.. but I really did not see this one coming. No rivalry story here. and one less thing for johnny to worry about. Poor Evan. Get well soon.

He is already taken from the Entries List... This is terrible...

But Préaubert is still on it, that's a good thing. I don't think that Amodio or Lucine could place in the Top Twenty.

Hmm, Abbott can't be really well prepared, can he? I mean, he was probably training but not hardcore.

Perhaps he can pull a Denmark '92 ?!? That would be so great.

Things are quiet here. Jeremy continues to skate since he is first alternate to the World team for the USA. It is a difficult time because he knows that he has to work hard but he also wants to take some vacation and then look for new music for the 2008-09 season. Riedell has sent new boots and Jeremy will need to begin skating in them next week as his old ones are very broken down after a long season of training and competing.
found this on his semi-official fan page (by family and friends) from February 27th. He also has new skates???? Let's just hope that the blades are ok.

Evan said that he's been through three blades over the last few days, so there likely was some notice that things were going awry. It's this last blade that broke yesterday while he was landing his triple axel, and now he's injured his arm and shoulder and is in a soft cast. Lovely, yes? I feel bad for him. He's been taken down by equipment failure.

Boots usually break down far before the blades wear out, so it's likely that the blades on Jeremy's old boots are fine. If his boots are worn out, he may be able to tape them so that they hold him in well enough to skate until Worlds - maybe.
