Maiia Khromykh

I'm pretty sure Maya secures a gpf spot if she finishes in the top four at the Russian Grand Prix event. I think if she can score more than 134 points in her free skate and then that will put her over 200 points and that should land her in the top four shouldn't it?

So proud of Maiia to get it together when it matters! Yes, not perfect today but much better than last week and enough for podium and GPF which was the job at hand.

I also love the first part of this program so much, I think she does a fantastic job with very challenging music.

Sometimes I forget that she's still just 15, because I've been watching her for years already, so sometimes I also think it's important to adjust the expectations and not be so harsh if everything isn't perfect all the time.

This is an important step in the development of Maya. not making the GPF would have been devastating.

But how can she become a factor where the short turned around to Grand Prix finals and then nationals a few weeks after that? Kamila is putting pressure on e everyone. But I want Maya to get closer to Liza than she is now.

I myself sometimes can forget, but Maiia went such a long way.
2 years ago she didn’t make JGPF, she was 4th at junior worlds.
I remember that after one particularly upsetting JPG stage where she ended up off podium, she went to the hotel crying.
Then last season, she was constantly losing to many others because she attempted quads and made more non-quad mistakes sometimes.

Look at her now. She herself has very high standards and expectations of herself. She’s so much more confident. She’s in senior GPF. She landed quads in every competition this season.
Several skaters, who used to beat her in juniors, can’t even touch her now. It’s a growth not many remember. I always knew she had this in her :) she’s a fighter and she never gives up.

Maiia has undergone so much already even though she's still so young. I think out of Eteri's seniors, she has had the most struggles, but she has continued to improve and develop and she should be so proud of where she's at now! I also remember her pain and disappointment at the JGP, but now she qualified to the senior final and her scores even when it includes multiple errors puts her among the top of the world.

The vast majority of people will never have a career path such as many of Eteri's most successful skaters, and that's completely OK, but I think many can relate to Maiia. Both going through and overcoming challenges. She is an inspiration.

Sharing this amazing picture of Maiia putting on her medal! :love2:
