Mao Asada

so, no news about Mao going to nationals. I hope if she is not enough ready or healthy yet to natls, Japanese fed send her to 4cc for decide if she can to compete at worlds. Is not like the other girls (except Satoko) were stellar this season.

This is probably the most recent comment regarding Mao's condition:

In this clip (posted on Dec 12), Daisuke gives his preview on the upcoming Japan Nationals. Around 9:10 towards the end, he mentions Mao. He says he saw Mao when practicing at Shin Yokohama recently (probably due to the current Christmas on Ice show) Dai-chan is quoting Mao: 'Finally (I) am able to make a shift in (how I) feel', in her tone of voice. And Dai-chan sounds quite positive about Mao at Nationals, saying hopefully we'll see a strong Mao there, which is a good sign, I guess.

The long and elegantly drawn out frontal extension transitioning into an arcing arabesque is magnificent. This performance is a hidden jewel I had never seen before.

Here is a video with almost the full performance though there is about a 30 second break right in the middle and the screen is a little small. I found it in a compilation of Mao's exhibitions. It starts at a little after 26 minutes. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M4gPhOWk_lo

I hope Mao is healthy and skates great at Nationals. Most of all, I hope she relaxes and skates with happiness in her heart and I hope her big sister, Mai, is there to give her the support that has helped her so much before.

Thank you! :thank: :o: This was my first attempt at a "narrative" piece, if you know what I'm saying, and I put a lot of thought into it, so I'm very happy that you enjoyed it.

Here is a really high quality fancam of Mao skating to Waltz Masquerade in her beautiful pink dress early in the Olympic season at an exhibition.

And here is a high quality video of Caprice

And here is the best copy I could find of Scent of a Woman

I love the choreography, spirals, spins, step sequences and costumes in all these programs. What a timeless treasure!

I admit Mao's pink dress is one of my very favorites but I am still glad she switched to the red dress for her SP in 2009-2010 because her best performances were in this costume.

I'm already getting nervous for nationals! I hope Mao is feeling better.
