Mao Asada

I guess that the black one is for a group program because Adelina was wearing it too.

Seems to be some sort of flamenco group number! I like the dresses, not so sure about the guys though.

ETA:
According to this tweet Mao skated a medley and did the first talk with Dai. :)

ETA no. 2: I guess Mao was joined by several other skaters for her medley? Apparently Dai joined her for Rach 2 (wearing his old costume!)

OMG!!, thanks to cohkaix from FSU: The 'highlight' during the 1st half of the show is a 'Mao medley' program. Well, it's a combination of the songs/programs that Mao skated before, but other skaters join to skate to a song (they may or may not skate to before). So in the end they come up with this AMAZING combination :drama::luv17::sad21::
Mai- to 'over the rainbow'
Adelina- to 'Scheherazade'
Oda - to 'Smile'
Shoma and Akiko - to 'lavender'
W&P - to 'Sing sing sing'
Jeff and Kozuka - to 'Bell of Moscow' (now we know why Jeff is in his old costume, and it is reported that Koz did Mao's Stsq!!!)
P&T - to Liebesträume
Dai- to 'Rach2' (and in his old costume as well!!!)

This end up in Mao skating to her Ritual dance (FS) Stsq

Omg, the whole medley was GREAT! Mao & Dai together at the end! Mao was as fierce and radiant as ever during her Ritual dance!

Wind beneath my wings is an absolute jewel.

And the tribute medley was just awesome. I can't wait to see more of Mao in the future!!!

Mao's performances were very elegant, fluid and so moving. She is so unique and genuine in her presentation. She reaches out and touches my heart and inspires beauty in me like no other skater.

Yes I agree her performances were so beautiful! We have been so lucky over the years to have her in the sport,
there will never be another like her.

I really liked the reflection concept of her show a way for her to say thank you and goodbye to her fans and to her competitive career.

I can't get rid of this nagging feeling that The Ice as we know it may be over too.

I admit to being sad that I will miss many of Mao's performances of The Ice as I have tried in vain to find videos of her performances from the second show. But, I did find this beautiful comment about Mao's performance of Elegy on youtube from the second day translated from google translate.

Here is the comment posted by しかじかかくかく at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C1U...qrju1x5x04cinh4fnenj54iyyg0k.1501422468132908

Bell in Vancouver, Rachmaninoff with Sochi, and Elegy of Rachmaninoff certainly think that Raleigh thought it would be for the next Olympic Games. I could not see it without tears.

I went to see it on the second day, but it was not transmitted in the picture,, It was really beautiful really. It was like moving my breath away from the moment Mao started.

It was a wonderful show to see how loved she is around.

Also, thanks to rosewood for all this information about and interview with Mao and her second round of performances. Glad to hear that it went much smoother with her jumps. https://www.fsuniverse.net/forum/th...he-love-of-skating.99143/page-24#post-5103308 post 710

Rosewood from FSU says that Mao did a collaboration with Jeff skating Madame Butterfly. That it was really beautiful but unfortunately they did not broadcast it :disapp:, yet. Seems the story was like Cio-Cio san had a good time with Pinkerton in her dream and then she came back to the reality that he left her. And she ends her life.

Lyrics
We’re still in the middle of this long journey
We don’t know our destination yet
But one thing is certain, that it will be a beautiful place
We are two nameless travellers

(translation of the lyrics to 旅人, the song they skated to). this is a song that they listened to a lot during their trip in Okinawa after deciding upon their retirements. they choreographed this program together :luv17:
