Mao Asada

Here are some of my favorites:

Mao's Ritual Dance favorite because I had never seen Mao wear it because it was her first performance and I was sitting on the front row and I just thought Mao looked so incredibly gorgeous, so stylish and so fiery at at the same time.

Mao's Bells of Moscow dress. Again, I love how fiery, stylish and classical it is and because I think Mao took some of her best photos during this performance with her incredibly elegant, flexible and passionate i spin, fan spiral, my favorite one handed Biellmann, and a fantastic snarling look through her mask like hands during her silky smooth step sequence and arabesque.

Mao's Sochi LP and Worlds 2014 dress because the color reminds me of the incredible fluidity and elegant power of the performance that encompasses every corner of the rink and because the deep blue reminds me of how many tears I have shed watching it.

My next favorite is Mao's Madame Butterfly dress for similar reasons to her Sochi LP especially the flowing long sleeves, the butterflies in the design, and because I have also shed quite a few tears watching this one especially her performance at Worlds, I think Mao has incredible expression with arms and body in this performance as in the beginning and end and during the step sequence and the long flowing silky sleeves give it the sense of flying towards an ideal and memory that can't be reached in reality. I also saw Mao skate in this dress and do a triple flip (I think it was) just a few feet in front of me and it was just incredible.

I also love Mao's Smile exhibition dress because it compliments her skin and fits her so well and so stylishly.

After that: Caprice, Por Una Cabeza, Chopin both times and I Got Rhythm though I like most of her outfits.

I have no idea if this has been posted or not but this video has a clip of Mao with her sister, Aero and Lori Nichol from The Ice 2017 which begins a couple of minutes before the end of the video.

I am disappointed that there are fewer and fewer videos of The Ice with each passing year.

thanks to roosewood, who posted the links in The Ice (FSU) thread https://www.fsuniverse.net/forum/th...n-osaka-aug-4-6-in-nagoya-japan.101301/page-2

, here is Elegy with clean jumps https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vUjYPZg3NMo&index=7 OMG!!! Wow, wow.

Madame Butterfly (Mao+Jeff) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DZUQhkIFWrw&index=11 so many ice dance teams would just to dream to have their chemistry.

We can take a moment to appreciate the moving scene of her death/goodbye  , I still remember people saying that Mao has not good expression and that she can´t act, but my God, I got chills https://youtu.be/DZUQhkIFWrw?t=133

Thanks so much for the links to these deeply moving and exquisite performances that I have been waiting so long to see. I actually broke into tears at the end of Madame Butterfly and got a spine tingling feeling for both programs.

Here are some videos of Mao talking about skating and meeting fans at her exhibition displaying costumes and photos of her competitive and exhibition programs which will be travelling around different cities in Japan. Her pink dress is very lovely.

Here is a 4K resolution copy of Mao's Sochi LP. I noticed that it was posted the day that Mao announced her retirement and that the view count is high considering when it was posted more than 3 years after the performance. Since so many wonderful comments were removed when Mao's two most watched videos were taken down showing my all time favorite Olympic moment, I hope more will come to view this video and leave comments about how much this performance inspired them.

That is such a test for my internet velocity . Wonderful video, her dress looks spectacular  . Do you know who is the man who is crying behind coach Sato? here https://youtu.be/ZjZc6gDCZNI?t=351, I never watch this video beyond her performance because I can´t with her tears

It seems Mao and Kanako met to their idol or something https://www.instagram.com/p/BZLyw5MlxBl/?taken-by=scorpius_1107_k

Now that Mirai landed the 3a in an international competition and it seems that only 8 women did it, and some people want include to kimmie who did it at nationals, I can not help being in awe that Mao landed 4 beautiful 3a in the damn Olympic Games :eek::eek:, what a legend

It's September 25th in Japan now. So, Happy 27th Birthday Mao. May all your Birthday wishes come true when you blow out the candles on your cake. Thank you for creating so many beautiful and inspirational moments on the ice that are timeless in their excellence. May you enjoy your days of retirement away from competition, but please come back to grace us with more magnificent exhibitions skated next year.

Here are some more 4K videos of Mao:

Happy 27th Birthday Mao!

Seems like yesterday when she dazzled everyone with her Nutcracker FS, pink dress and ponytail hair style
and won the GPF but was to young for the Olympic team. Enjoy your Special Day Mao!!! :cheer:
