Mao Asada

Happy Birthday Mao!! I come here after watching a video about a letter to ISU about the unfair judging for your program in Olympic 2014: https://youtu.be/Jn22ZnNpPt8?t=479. Then I went to rewatch your program. And I'm still crying again at your masterpiece. You are in all figure skating fans' hearts!

Lol. It's actually a different character for "Mao", but a friend totally guessed it was an homage. She was wearing her Swan Lake dress in a novice comp ;)

It's easier still when we're dealing with English. :laugh:

New commercial (Mao dancing on the rooftop) :)

Korean-American skater Audrey Shin, who won the bronze medal at the most recent Skate America event, said Mao was her favorite skater in an interview. She would watch videos of Mao's programs on Youtube all the time. :)

Official videos of Mao's "Thanks Tour" show were uploaded on YouTube yesterday;
I hope you enjoy them:)

I hadn't seen this Mao-like swan lake.

Wha-?! I thought you must have, since the Mao Shimada tidbit was linked before in the thread! That's how I first came to know of her I think, lol.

I don't know if anyone has posted this already but it is one of Mao's all time best performances and hence one of the best performances ever in my opinion finally in high quality after looking at it through a blurry screen for so long: her fabulous Grand Prix Final LP from 2007.
The quickness and agility combined with grace and buttery smooth edging through the jumps, spins and steps was especially heavenly with fabulous fluidity and pliability, seemingly fleet and light like a butterfly but with an underlying power, force and speed that deceives the sense of tenderness in the performance and genuine moments of abandon in dancing. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=52WEr2CzGn0

Her best technical performance ever, probably?
