Mao Asada

Mao congratulated Hanyu and Shoma her Instagram. She also congratulated Nathan on giving his best performance! :yahoo:

Even though Mao isn't competing anymore, I am so happy to see her memory brought up in other skaters at these Olympics--Mirai's 3A triumph and Nathan's amazing comeback. Just shows that her achievements and performances will never be forgotten. :)

Classiest figure skater ever Queen Mao Asada. I miss her so much, I don't want her to compete anymore but I miss seen her on the ice...

She must be so proud of Shoma! She saw him grow from a small boy at the rink to now an Olympic silver medalist, just like her! She let Shoma wear her silver medal 8 years ago and today he finally has one too!! So happy for them.

Currently watching this short program on repeat as a palette cleanser for the past 3 evenings. What happened to women's skating?

It just moved from other things that mattered four or more years ago, I'd rather ask: what happened to Chopin's music in programs that there have to be voiceovers added to it? About the performance You linked - one of my Chopin's FS Pantheon member, alongside Yuzuru's Ballade SP and Patrick's FS, probably the only woman who was able to evoke romanticism and powerfulness of Chopin's Nocturnes in her skating, painting a picture while performing, not serving a stale take-out...

(some) details about the tour has been published on this website (in Japanese):
http://maotour.jp/

Basically, it's a 'thank you' tour around Japan from Mao. So far the tour has been set up at 10 local rinks around the country, dating from early May to Oct (perhaps on to Nov?). The tour will NOT go into major cities in Tokyo or Osaka (not even Nagoay! not so far?). And these local rinks are quite small, with capacity of around 1000 to 1500 audiences ONLY. From the ticketing for the 1st stop at Niigata, they want to have the priority for local citizens/residents to enjoy the show.

Adding: but I think this project has been in Mao's mind for a while, so happy for her that she can put her thoughts into practice....
Adding 2: in another magazine interview, Mao reveals part of the programs of the show. It will include numbers such as: 'smile' (EX), 'Madame butterfly'. 'Jupiter' (Ex), 'Cello Suite' (Ex), and 'Rach no.2'

How exciting that Mao will be touring. Sounds like it will be a unique show.

it will a treat to see the Lovely Mao skating again!
