Has anyone seen her tour lately? How are her jumps and step sequences ? Has anyone met her? I heard she does 8-10 routines. That's a lot. Hope she's keeping fit like usual.

I certainly hope she gets picked to carry that Olympic torch because she deserves that honor. She works hard and is incredibly humble. Who knows if she will be the final one but that shouldn't matter.

Mao’s been a figure skater, then a hockey player, and now a tap dancer too! Here is a clip of Mao and a group of deaf students performing a tap routine she helped them learn as part of a 24hr charity show she did recently.

I have been rewatching some of Mao's programs and her 2013 GPF performance of Nocturne remains a favorite. I think it might be even better than her record breaking performance at Worlds.

This particular performance sticks out to me too! Of course her Worlds one was legendary, but this one should be right up there with it. I also preferred this dress over the other one.

Happy 29th birthday to Mao. I am grateful for all the marvelous moments she created in her performances with such depth of emotional resonance combined with athletic and artistic excellence and I am impressed with how she displayed bravery and resilience in persevering and overcoming trying times. May her collaborations in skating shows continue to bear the fruit of friendships that bud into beautiful performances and may her work with the deaf and paraolympians grant each a sense of shared spirit and community.

A bluray of Mao's Thanks Tour will be out next April! All proceeds will be donated to help out a skating rink charity.

As more time passes, the more I appreciate the unique qualities of Mao's skating and charisma. She is simply irreplaceable.
