Mariah Bell

Mariah just won her first GP medal, a silver. She was 6th in the short and 1st in the free. Congratulations Mariah, fantastic skates!!

Partying hard over here!! A well deserved medal and one of the nicest skating surprises for me in a long time!! :party2::hb::party:

I'm told by sabinfire that Mariah was the only one to get a full SO! Way to go and congrats on your first medal!

The way she skated was definitely great! The more she nailed her jumps, the happiest she looked until she let a shout of joy when she finished. :hap93:I really hope she'll get a second GP, goodness she'd really deserve it! :cheer:

Oh my gosh! This was a thrills and chills skate. We were all on our feet going crazy. She was spectacular. Rohene's choreography and her costume were awesome too.

Very happy for Mariah! She's my favourite senior US lady since last season  And I love her SP program :hap10:

Count me in as a new fan! Why I didn't notice her before?! Gorgeous lines & posture, such joy of skating and beautiful jumps- it was a dream skate. Congrats on the silver medal!

What a wonderful skate for Mariah! She so needs another GP assignment.

At least a senior B or two if not.

Congratulations to Mariah for her silver at Skate America .
I'm thrilled for her and for Raf :dance2:.

Mariah already has brought home medals from SLC and Nepela this season :).
One more Challenger for her would be the max, per ISU rules.

If another GP slot opens up, would be terrific if she were picked :agree:.

Not all Senior Bs are CS series- Coupe de Nice for example.

Yes, of course.

And Coupe de Nice already has taken place this year. (With zero U.S. entries, AFAIK. IIRC, USFS has not sent anyone to Coupe de Nice since 2013 -- seemingly because(?) the Challenger Series was launched in 2014.)

For senior skaters, the USFS assignments chart at this point includes only GPs and Challengers for the rest of the calendar year, so just seems unlikely to me that USFS will be sending skaters to non-Challenger internationals. But never say never.

As for the new year, I hope that Mariah will have a shot at Four Continents and/or Worlds  ... although I am rooting hard for Mirai as well.

TSL interviewed Mariah over the weekend - this was done before her winning freeskate. She talks about the training environment with Raf. I think Dave was trying to get her to dish a bit about her split from Kori, but she wasn't going there. She handled herself well and seems more grown up and confident. I think the move to the LA area has been good for her.

I think Mariah likes training in a more elite environment as opposed to 7K where it seems like skaters of all levels train together.

My favorite part was at 4:20, right after she lands her last jump a triple flip. "I think we've just witnessed the inauguration of US Figure Skating's next starlet."

Go Mariah!!!

The medal ceremony was very cute. Rohene was by the boards taking pictures with his cell phone the whole time.

Her free skate was one of the top highlights of SA (I was there). And to think she just found out she was going only 2 weeks ago!
