Marin Honda

So it means her Tango SP doesn't work for her.
I'm okay with switching to a new program but I'm just worried since she has a little time to perfect it.
Hope she will be alright and do well in her first senior season. :yay:

Marina, yas :yahoo: I'm not sure how to feel about this but if she didn't feel comfortable in it enough to change it, I guess it's good decision. I think she could pull it off and I don't think it was bad program but there were many doubts about it and some criticism, I'm sure it affected her choice. I hope Marina will bring some magic again

Marin can pull off anything, but I hope it'll be another "sakura-style" masterpiece. :luv17:

Oh, I found more news about her SP:

- It’s a piano piece
- Marina Zueva will choreo
- She will use ‘Smile’ as her SP in U.S. Int’l FS Classic (Sept 14-16) before working on the new choreography in Detroit
- New SP will debut in GP Skate Canada (Oct 26-29)
- Coach Hamada describes the music like divine and it complements Marin’s flow on ice
- La Cumparsita / Jalousie to become her EX

Guys, Marin's senior debut is finally happening this week :luv17: Here she is departing to Salt Lake City (from yesterday)! https://twitter.com/BluecosmosH/status/906784302146347010

Marin's SP https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FIHWafbadik :luv17: 66.90 :scratch2: For sure not her best, she looked nervous and was tighter on her jumps but glad she started with clean skate! Probably also too junior-ish for judges. I still expected about score closte to her PB ~68, we have to wait for protocols now.

Update: Our girl is first after short :luv17:

All spins were level 4! StSq level 3. PCS: 30.12. Note: She has 3Lz as planned solo jump! Protocols: http://www.usfigureskating.org/leaderboard/results/2017/26189/results.html

Thank you!!!!:thank:

Guys

Marin Honda ranked first place in the SP at the 2017 U.S. International Figure Skating Classic! She actually realized she forgot her costume in the hotel 15 minutes before the 6-minute warmup. Apparently, she put it on a hanger after morning practice to keep it from wrinkling, but then ended up leaving it hanging there! She was able to get someone to fetch her costume quick though, and it arrived with 3 minutes left to spare. Thanks to that incident, however, she was able to shake off all the nervousness and worries she had about performing. (x, x) source: http://japaneseadventures.tumblr.com/

Also some random things:

Coach Hamada being adorable  https://shomarin.tumblr.com/post/16...amada-being-adorable-and-overly-excited#notes

and Marin's cute ending after short :luv17: http://lipnitskaya.tumblr.com/post/165405937663

Great debut, I'm looking forward to steady and sure improvement in the season.
On the side of judges as well. :rolleye:

I love her pigtails but they need to be stopped :drama: Also, the program didn't really help, I think with new program, her doing well in free and maybe raising the technical difficulty (already better spins and like I posted, there's planned 3Lz), we will see big improvement in PCS

Yes!
I think she will definitely deserve higher PCS. She has the SS, the flow, the edges, the interpretation(as we've seen in her Turandot). I think she has SO much potential!
I haven't seen her new short(obviously) but it will surely be more mature, she needs it to be and she can do it.
This Smile performance at US international was just a "necessary evil". I guess she didn't have time to prepare her new program for that competition.
I knew judges would not be too happy, but Marin looked like she didn't care, she even kept the hairdo!
She's too adorable!:luv17:

She's 16 years old, let her have her pigtails! Girls in Japan keep doing pigtails till they're like 20! Though it was a bit distracting because her hair was longer now than it was at junior worlds, but she's so lovely so I don't care.:agree2: Good luck to her on the free!! Beating the others on home soil!

I'm so so so so happy  She delivered even in these cirstumances, she did so well looking from this perspective :luv17: Seriously, she just needs more drama, be sharper with her movements and like many people wrote in competition thread I wish she could hold that spiral longer, also work on that Ina Bauer. With all of that this one is going to be a real Olympic program and real Olympic 'moment' hopefully :hopelessness: PCS are already in 8s, if she will keep doing well, they're going to be in 8/9s area. She won her senior debut over top American ladies, I couldn't be more proud :yahoo:

Did she faint after her free skate?

"However, it wasn’t an easy win for Marin, because the venue was at a high altitude, and the air was thin. After performing, she was unsteady on her feet, and couldn’t make it to the Kiss and Cry. She ended up just sitting on the bench right outside the rink’s entrance. Her coach said Marin was so pale when she left the rink.

“I was very focused, and kept on telling myself that no matter what happens, I have to skate until the end. I believe I won the fight against myself,” Marin said. She also mentioned not even remembering doing the triple loop and the last jump combination she did. “I gave it all I’ve got, but I’m not satisfied with my performance at all. I still have a lot to work on." source: http://japaneseadventures.tumblr.co...arin-honda-once-again-took-the-lead-in-the-fs
