Max Aaron

Karne hope your wrist heals fast!

Great for Max, but I thought with Tim's performance at SC, they would give him another opp to compete at Talinn. Well, at least we know USFSA is not ignoring Max anymore!

Re the changing Team USA entries for Tallinn Trophy:

The two U.S. men originally were Nathan and Grant.
Then the Japanese fed chose Grant to fill the NHK vacancy that was open b/c of Josh's withdrawal.
Grant then was taken off the Tallinn list.

karne's Nov 7 post (in the U.S. men thread) was the first I knew that Tim had been added.

Thx to el henry for the latest news that Tim has been taken off ... and Max has been added.

Tim's FS at Skate Canada was terrific; and in the TSL interview, he came across as a great guy.
He already had two Challenger assignments this season, but I do regret that he is not getting a third.

OTOH, putting the blinders on and thinking in terms only of Max: In addition to extra ISU world standing points, he also will have a chance to earn some of the Challenger prize money awarded at the end of the series. And he already will be in Europe b/c of TEB, so it's a relatively "painless" way for him to compete again without the wear-and-tear on his body of another round-trip from the U.S.
[And I am happy for Max that he will be able to give moral support in person to Maddie and Max S at their season debut, and in turn to receive their support.]

Oooh Karne sorry to hear that. I did the same thing last December, also skating.

Here is Team USA. Is that Max in the white hat facing away from camera?

karne, sorry about your wrist. :sad4:

As for the photo: it has two people wearing a white hat/cap and facing away from camera.

FWIW, my guess is that Zach Donohue is the guy who is standing and who is wearing a white hat and whose height appears to be within the same range as Mervin's. (My guess is that Max is not as tall as Mervin.)

IMO, the person (can't tell the gender) who is crouching or sitting and wearing a white cap might be Max?? I mean the person behind Angela and in front of Marissa.

SnuggleBat practice reports indicate that he is in good form. ;)

Also I have seen one or two pictures and can confirm his UnderArmour for this event has a blue waistband. :o:

Also I have achieved awkward but painful typing.

Oh that is sad honestly if the assignment was taken from Tim. ...

Very confusing as to the chronology of who was entered for Tallinn when. (I say this as someone who likes Tim.)

I know that Tim's name had appeared on the ISU page; and then on the ISU page, he later got changed from a full entry to a substitute.

Meanwhile, Tim's name never appeared on the USFS assignments page.

Up until today, Max's name had not appeared on the USFS assignments page. (And up until yesterday, Max had not appeared on the ISU page.)

But today, Max's name does appear on the USFS page -- with the notation "added 11/5."

On the USFS page, the men's column for Tallinn in entirety says:
Aaron (added 11/5)
Chen (Added 9/22)
Hochstein (wd 10/6
)
https://www.usfigureskating.org/Athletes.asp?id=216

So very confusing as to what happened when, regarding Tallinn.

Anyway, as many already know, some good news from the USFS assignments page today is that Sean Rabbitt has been added to Golden Spin of Zagreb.

And here I thought that Max's snazzy sneakers would be the wardrobe headline for today ;).

And I look forward to finding out his favorite flavor of ice cream.

karne, don't want you to suffer for us, but glad that awkward typing is at least possible.

i was trying not to think about those sneakers! Oh SnuggleBat, you and your dubious fashion choices...

I can only do it in bursts, then I have to rest. :)

I have been secretly ;) wondering whether Nike gave athletes those particular sneakers as freebie swag for product-placement purposes, and thus Max did not choose the style??

No need to reply, karne.
Hope you will rest your wrist until the competition threads start going crazy.

I would not be surprised. I have seen Jason in Nike stuff alot as well.

I can't imagine Max choosing those sneakers (just doesn't seem SnuggleBat style, clashes with the blue UnderArmour;))

Rohene, on the other hand, would consider those a far too conservative choice for sneakers:laugh:

Is that before or after attack of the bedazzler?

Agree that a lot of USFS skaters have received Nike swag in the past. I was wondering whether Nike is promoting that specific (and rather distinctive) pair of shoes via athletes like Max. If we see Jason and others wearing the same hard-to-miss :reye: style, then we'll have our answer .

Hopefully the win at SA has only given him more confidence, and he'll deliver a great podium-placing skate! (because that would guarantee a GPF spot! I hope I'm not getting ahead of myself.)

Sorry to hear about the broken wrist. Get well soon!

Blade Boys have posted SnuggleBat FS run-through. Some notes:

- naughty SnuggleBat popping jumps. But he did this at Skate America too.
- the a;fna;h pause is still in there :bang: But it is a little shorter. Still, it's an obvious rest break and a massive target for the bashers.
- some of the more awkward swan arm movements are still in
- he has exchanged the spot where he did the 3T at SkAm for a 3Lz (!!!)
- he still likes showing off his abs and underwear :o:

(Yes, karne is now :bed: ahead of the ladies and will rest wrist. ;) )

Thanks for posting this link. Honestly, as you say, while this practice isn't particularly exciting it is similar to his Skate America one which I actually think bodes well :)

Go Max :cheer:

Even though it wasn't the short that we hoped for, I still believe in our snuggle bat. I hope he's not beating himself up to much and will be able to have a nice relaxing night before what I'm sure will be a triumphant return in his free skate tomorrow :hap57:

Thx, tulosai. Ditto re everything you said.

I am sad for Max that he had jump errors, but I honestly can say that otherwise I enjoyed his SP. I really like this program for him.

I liked this tweet:
Glad that Max both gave and received that hug. On a tough day at the office, his instinctive sweetness remains intact. I hope he knows how much we all continue to support him.

Wonderful tweet, thanks for sharing! I am also glad :)

He is our SnuggleBat, our Gladiator, our Black Swan, and he WILL rise again!
