I wanted to hug Max last night. This is a bummer. He is my favorite too. I really wanted him to make the team. Hoping for a great FS.

I had the good fortune to speak to Max before his practice today at Solar.

He is such a sweetheart. Subdued (understandably ), but composed and very friendly. At least outwardly, his chin is not down.

Max got 4CC!! I'm obviously super excited but also quite surprised. I'm so happy we get to see him again this season. I have a sad feeling that the reason is because Max is planning to retire and USFSA wanted to give him one last international event, but regardless of the reason I'm glad his season isn't over.

The Team USA apparel promo with Max (and Jason and 2018 hopefuls from other sports) aired today during NBC's broadcast of the Nats gala.

At approx. the 50-minute mark of the first hour.

But I am very happy for Max that he has represented Team USA very well in a number of USOC projects.

Hope SnuggleBat has a great trip to Four Continents. :yay:

Several cameras are there today. To shoot footage of Olympians, I suppose.

Really appreciated some thoughts today from Kendall Wesenberg (friend of Max and brand-new Olympian for U.S. skeleton ).

Although Kendall was referring to teammates in her own sport, she expressed perfectly the respect that we all feel for Max .

... i want to reiterate that there are a number of very talented athletes, who have faced their own surgeries, mental battles, and other adversities, who have put it all out there and competed, just like i did and who didn’t get named to the team. these athletes probably won’t get the spotlight that i have received but i want to do my part in making sure that they are acknowledged. i know that everyone has sacrificed so much in our individual attempts at the same goal and i have a lot of respect for anyone who pursues this Olympic dream. ...
