glimpse of the Black Swan long program.

Obviously I am still reserving judgement until I have seen the program itself, but even these few seconds make me cautiously optimistic. The music (which I had not heard before) sounds suitably dramatic, up-tempo, and energetic enough for him, and his movement looked good into the spin. Perhaps near the end of the program? He looked strong.

Of course, it's quite likely that I've completely lost my marbles from the anticipation of waiting and speculating and waiting and waiting and the total secrecy of the SP music.

EDIT: Two cool guys after practice!

New programs updated. SP is

"Nessun Dorma (from "Turandot") by Giacomo Puccini, performed by Luciano Pavarotti"

Free more specifically is

"Black Swan (soundtrack) by Clint Mansell, Petr I. Tchaikovski" ... [/URL]

Thank you, Stitch!

And the only choreographer listed for Max is Phillip Mills, so I guess he is responsible for both programs .

45 minutes after Sylvia's tweet, I come here, and three people already have posted the news on "Nessun Dorma".

Gotta say, I wish Max were doing one contemporary piece (I can't consider a riff on Tchaikovsky to be contemporary), but since Footloose didn't work, maybe it is all for the best. Good for Max for debuting the programs so early:cheer:

I have to say, I'm actually rather excited about the prospect of Nessun Dorma. I hope it all goes well! Just 24 hours to go!

I was just thinking the same! So excited:cheer: Nessun Dorma is the one warhorse I don't mind at all.

Now if Jason would only do a redux of his 2011 Nessun Dorma and we'd get two in the same season, I'd be a happy bunny

:agree: Definitely excited re Nessun Dorma.

Team USA all dolled up with a weird panda. Max is looking mighty fine in this picture!

I still require further evidence for haircut analysis, but the outcome is looking favourable so far. ;)

EDIT:

Further evidence is forthcoming: a second group shot.

Alas, Max's hair was not the first part of him that caught my eye... :o:

LOL, karne ;), pls don't make the panda a sad :( panda.
The panda is the TV Asahi mascot Go-Chan, per a Facebook caption from USFS.

But thanks as always for the photos and ... analysis!

Glad to see that Max has brought back his double-breasted suit . And his hair looks good too.

On the completely shallow end of the pool, I prefer Max's hair short - he looks more handsome and shows his features. The greasy Jew-fro was just awful and I hope he doesn't grow it back.

Oh yes, I hated the slicked-back hair from Nationals. The curls weren't too bad, but they were too long and needed a trim. And that mop-top!

But maybe we should make it a rule that Max wears the double-breasted suit at every possible occasion. He looks fabulous in it.

I think this should be the SP Music

A little OT but you picked a wonderful performance. Gives me shivers.

Good luck to Max - I'm betting this will be a good choice!!

Four nice photos of Max working with Phillip Mills have been added to PM's website.

The Max photos are within a new (AFAIK) section near the bottom of PM's home page.
It is titled, "The Broadmoor: The New Frontier."
"Phillip’s newest mission is to enhance the artistic purity for Tom Zakrajsek’s and Becky Calvin’s skaters."

One of the four:

The same batch of photos includes Chase Belmontes and some young ladies whose names are new to me.

Random unrelated nice photo of Max from a couple of months ago:

I'm super cheesed off at the ISU. They've put up the full SP videos and guess what? No Max. Though at least they rid it of the shrill beep and stripey card, we skip straight from announcing him to the end of his replays.

I'm starting to despair a little of ever seeing this performance.

Two still photos of Max's Nessun Dorma SP, from Absolute Skating:

(IN's WTT Men's SP photo gallery has one photo of Max, but it is less than memorable, IMO.)

Less than a full day has elapsed ... so I still am holding out hope that the ISU will come through with the missing video of Max's SP.
I believe that the ISU has done so in other cases of streaming problems (JGP??), but I don't remember how long it took for the archived video to be posted.
