Medvedeva WDs from GPF

She needs to rest up STAT! She's already has 2 GPF wins and pretty much Russian Fed will be sending her to the Olympics anyways. Better to deal with the issue now than to have a disaster happen just before or at the Olympics.

The good news is that a bone fracture( Im guessing its a stress fracture) is better than a ligament injury.

Her chances of coming back and healing is very good. 1 month rest and light training should be good and she can come back at nationals or better just skip it and do euros next year or some small competition to get her groove back.

Goodluck Zhenya!

What shocking news to wake up to! Evgenia, take the time you need to heal completely! Your health is more important than the GPF, etc.

Can't Evgenia even get injured like a normal skater without controversy & people assuming the worst? Maybe wish her well instead of starting 1000 conspiracy theories about doping, suspicious timing(huh?), astrology, etc.? When would be a non-suspicious time for her to announce her injury? If she waited until the last minute people would have a problem with that, too.
People transfer their dislike regarding Medvedeva way too easily here to find their hidden agenda :noshake: And I say that as someone who does not like Evgenia either but I just wish her speedy & controlled recovery. I think that withdrawing from GPF is the best solution for her, and from Nationals too as she won't have time to train properly for that.

My guess is she will not be at the GPF and even Nationals will be pushing it. If I read the reports correctly, this occurred over the summer. Her 2 falls during the 2 GP events can be attributed to it. My read is that her continuing to skate on it has made it worse to the point she now needs "plaster." I think she will be lucky to have it healed and with enough time to get backing into her regular training routine in time for the Olympics.

The question is how she uses that "rest and repair" time. Lots of athletes come back stronger if they and their coaches use the time wisely.

I am certainly not counting her out for an OGM.

Nobody should. Because even injured she slayed the competition and won her events easily. Of course, this is a setback that makes her more vulnerable, but looking at the scores, the only one who can beat her, is Alina.

This is ridiculous. If she has a fracture she needs to not risk it. My thoughts are she doesn't want to express any vulnerability, but this could compromise her health and her momentum if she doesn't perform well due to injury.

Sorry, I can't find the translation, would you mind posting it? :)

If you click on the the link that I posted above and scroll down past the photo there are a few sentences and then keep scrolling down
and that is where it says that she intends to compete. I don't speak Russian. I googled translated.

Russian figure skater Yevgency Medvedev appeared at a press conference in a fixing banage on his leg. At the same time, the 18 year old athlete is noticeably limping,
according to the correspondent of "SE" Natalia Maryanchik.

...

Earlier it was reported that the Russian expects to perform in the final of the "Grand Prix", despite the damage. The figure skater won teh last two Grand Prix draws in 2015 and 2016.

Google Translate helped me.
