Medvedeva WDs from GPF

I just realized Wakaba Higuchi most likely needs Medvedeva to withdraw in order to make the GPF, something she should already be locked in for anyway.

Rotten for Med to have an injury but if Wakaba can compete, I will be happy as she is one of my favourites. It also makes for a more unpredictable Grand Prix Final! :party2:

Anna WDed & I hope Med & co will come to the right decision

health should always come 1st

Wakaba obviously loves Evgenia and considers her a friend, I don't think she would appreciate people being happy that Evgenia is out so that she can compete

If it's risky stay at home.

She has nothing to prove, her PBs are way higher the rest of the field.

I don't think we'll see a 160 in the FS at GPF anyway, so it would be worse to go and not perform well, dealing with injuries.

RusFed shouldn't put too much pressure on her, considering Zagitova can grab that gold medal.

I don't see any reasons why RusFed could decide to push her to participate in GPF. Seems like Evgenia hasn't enough patience and wants to skate, jump and compete.

Yes!! Thank you.
I'm sure Wakaba is heartbroken for Zhenya, not happy that she might be able to go instead of her.

I think it was sarcasm not serious post

Idk why Alina is in convo yep she had a serious injury too

As for Osmond I bet even her anti fans were sympathetic & really acknoledge what she went through

You think...? :shock2: Some things are best left in the past. But I will say, I wish her a speedy recovery and hope to see her at the Olympics. Skaters tend to peak, when the field is at its best.

So Ashley will make GPF by the skin of her teeth, again proving herself to be the luckiest competitor out there.

Yep, and any athlete really.
Its the fans who make it nasty, usually (like the folks who blamed Osmond for bombing in France because that greatly reduced Wakaba's chances for GPF)

Not necessarily...
If Polina wins, and she has a good chance to do so, and Ashley gets less than a 235 (!!) then it's Polina and Wakaba
If Polina wins and Ashley gets greater than a 235 (!!) then it's Ashley and Polina

If Polina is in 2nd place, she only needs 209 to go to the GPF.

That's a bit easier said than done though, given her PB is 210. But if she scores 210, I'm fairly confident that will be enough for 2nd, if not win. She might even need only 200 to win, given none of the other ladies have cleared that yet this season.

She will only do so if she wins. There's no way she'll win any tie breaker if she places second and Polina wins.

I am not much of a Medvedeva fan personally, I just don't care for her skating. I do however think she seems like a delightful young lady and also share her love for Japanese culture. This is very sad news. She has a true love for skating that is evident whenever she steps on the ice. I would love to see someone beat her fair and square but not like this! Would prefer for her to heal properly and come back strong when the time is right!

I still believe that evgenia will not skip the Final. She’ll be there. It’s 2 weeks away. For evgenia, that’s probably plenty of time.

I'm not sure. Even if she's skating in 2 weeks, which is doubtful, she hasn't been training leading up to the event. If she skates in the GPF and suffers an injury that takes her out of the Olympics, I think that will go down as one of the worst decisions of all time in skating.

Even if she doesn't suffer an injury it'll still be a stupid decision and an unnecessary risk. Really, she has nothing to prove at the GP level. It's far more important to just recover fully.

If she goes and she is not in top shape for it or is still injured I don't see the point. Winning a GPF medal is not that big of a deal. Just ask Shandu, Oda, Abbott, Chouinard, Czisny, and Malinia. I am sure any one of them would gladly give up their GPF win or medal for a World or Olympic medal! As well, V/M won worlds and Olympics but never won a GPF until last year. And on the flip side W/P won it twice but have yet to win worlds or an Olympic medal!
