Memorable programs at Nationals

I have been lucky enough to attend three nationals competitions live, and they were a great experience. Can you think of some performances, live or otherwise, that really stood out to you. It's my wish that many of the skaters have moments like these at this competition. Here are two of my favourites:

1993 Nationals - Shae-Lynn and Victor's gypsy free dance gave them their first Canadian title. They were enchanting, and so talented! They came off the ice to a loud ovation, and we all know they career they had

2002 Nationals - Lesley Hawker's free skate was filled with such joy. She brought the house down at her first nationals. I love what she brings to figure skating - a great work ethic and so much love for what she does. What a wonderful first experience!

2002 Nationals - Elvis Stojko's free skate, his last competition in Canada. Watching him land a quad one more time was wonderful. The performance wasn't perfect, but it was, as always, gutsy and a trademark of his style.

I've been to too many Canadians.

Everything Shae and Victor did.

The final flight of pairs in 1999 Canadians. Everyone skated so well the time just flew by.

I think it was Emanuel Sandhu's short program at 1999 Canadians. The crowd stood up before the program was even over.

The 2005 nationals, both Jeffery Buttle's and Joannie Rochette's frees. 2 of the best programs they ever skated, it was absolutly increadible.

Hi Everyone!!

VGL knows me all too well and I know some others here also know me. To those who don't, look forward to getting to know you. (Yes, VGL it took me *this* long to realize there were forums here. Anyway...)

Last year's Cdns in Ottawa ~ That entire first flight of Pairs short programs was amazing!! And then there was Marie-France and Patrice's Somewhere In Time. You literally could have heard a pin drop in the Civic Centre.

2005 Cdns ~ W/out a doubt, Jeff and Joannie's Long Programs. Wow!!

2002 Cdns ~ Elvis' Long Program and of course Shae and Victor's OD and the Michael Jackson FD. Or as I like to refer to it, when we learned Victor could strut.

1990 Cdns ~ My very, very first ever skating competition and so many, many wonderful memories. Cyndi Landry and Lyndon Johnson's FS though was so gorgeous. And then there's Kurt's Bring Him Home. To this day, my all time favourite Kurt Browning program.

I've only been to two Nationals and then I only purchased single event tickets so there isn't much to remember and the one day was a completely splat fest (Mens SP and Ladies FP).

edmonton 98. Tina Muir and Homer watson had a huge fall on a hydrant lift in a practice- both were taken to the hospital with head injuries. They competed and did an inspiring program- they won some award for it

I have attended too many Canadian Nationals to list all my favorite performances here. There have been many special moments for me over the years:

Karen Magnussen, Toller Cranston, Brian Orser, Tracy Wilson and Rob McCall, Bournce and Kraatz, Kurt Browning to name a few.

Of the new kids on the block:

Jeff Buttle, Shawn Sawyer, Christopher Maybee, Joannie Rochette, David Pelletier and Jamie Sale.

I also loved Kurts' "Bring Him Home" program and Brian Orsers' "The Story of My Life" program as well as Toller Cranstons' "Too Beautiful to Last" program.
