Men Free Skating - 2013 Trophée Eric Bompard

Just five points from 300. I guess he won't be dining in hell with the other Spartans

I cannot stand Chan but his skating is exquisite. Much of the choreography is the same in both programs. I guess that is what he feels most comfortable with.

It was smart of him to reuse his SP and pick familiar music for his FS. The FS's jump layout and composition is much more manageable than his previous programs without giving away too many points. Here's to hoping that he didn't deliver an Olympic worthy performance too soon.

Well...

A pretty disappointing competition overall, but Patrick Chan surely delivered. The only question I have is: How will he improve upon this in Sochi?

That's a good question. What's a perfect score with +3 on everything and straight 10s in PCS?

Holy crap! That score. :jaw: I can't even. Wow. I so hope he can replicate that at the Olympics.

That was... a champions performance from Chan. I still don't feel the movement he does is authentic, that sometimes he doesn't give the movements the breath they needs, and that his shoulders are still too high in some parts.... but otherwise, he's clearly the winner, and by a wide margin.

This is a very good point. He could be projecting his movements a bit better.

Room for improvement on the spins as well.

Patrick was truly amazing. But seriously, is it justifiable to have a stepout and still improve the WR by 15 points?

Perfect score?

It's going to have a 4 axel - 4 axel combination, right? The max PCS is 100 but tech can go way way way higher.

Not really a fan of the Men's but I have to admit enjoying Patrick's skate. Well done Patrick and as a fellow Canadian I wish you well in Sochi.

No 10s in skating skills? I mean, it sounds silly to complain about "only" getting 9.57 but I thought he'd have deserved at least one 10...

I always have to think a minute when skaters do this sequence. My first impression is that it is a step out, then I realize.......lol

Sometimes it feels weird because if a skater doesn't have a lot of control on the landing, half-loop can enable them to hide that to an extent. Chan's 3lutz in that sequence was very solid and well-balanced on the landing, though.

OMG, just thrilled for Chan's performance:clap::bow::yay::bow::love:
speechless...
Pls plushy and Lysacek do consider before coming back.
