I didn't get in on it till 8pm (last flight) so I missed a bunch, but OMG

Does anyone else think Evan's probably hugely inflated score was a way to demoralize Weir as well? After all alot of are saying that we mutualy feel the USFSA wanted to make sure of this result from the start.

there's no way they could be sure Johnny would have a rough go in the long... even with the roar of the crowd I didn't think he'd fall... much less have as many issues as he did... I really thought after the short he'd do well...

First, I am a Johnny fan but Evan deserved the title tonight, he skated clean, he hit all his jumps and he did a great job. Johnny's problem (I think) was he was under so much pressure to join Scott and Brian as four time consecutive champions, he skated after Evan's fantastic program and Johnny's program wasn't that great this year as far as jump placements etc. Paul Wylie said it best at Skate Canada that the jump placements in Johnny's LP were placed in very awkward spots leaving little time to prepare. I don't think Johnny ever got as comfortable with this program as he was with Otonal or Dr Zhivago from 2004.Hopefully now that the pressure is off, Johnny can relax and skate well at World's and then regroup for next season. He may not have won tonight but no one can take away the fact that he was the first man to be national champion three years in a row since Brian Boitano.

That is not exclusive to FS, but yes there is always going to be SOMEONE trying to take something away from someone :agree:

well said momjudi... that and the fact that he didn't just phone it in (like I told my mom he might as well do after his fall and popped jump) and that just makes me stand up and take notice. I'm not a fan, but because he didn't give up and he fought for it... that makes him all the more worthy of respect (not that before he didn't... it just puts him in a different place in my eyes)

Evan's Program Component marks weren't even inflated. Hell, the technical marks weren't even inflated much. He did a Quad/Triple combo AND a 3Axle/Triple combo AND a 3-jump combination AND landed all of his other jumps. That's huge.

In the performance were Joubert did his 3 Quads, he doubled out on the end of both of his combinations. Depsite his amazing jumping ability, Joubert does have a tendancy to be a bit weaker with the combinations. If Evan repeats his performance at Worlds he COULD beat Joubert.

I feel the same. It's like the scandal in 2002 Olympic in Salt Lake City. It was really unnecessary to have the under-the- table deals. The French dance team was great and they would have won it without the judge's help.

Evan skated great tonight. But they wanted to make sure that Evan gets the gold, so they gave him the much inflated marks. The judges really lost the credibilities.

uh excuse me folks! but what evan put out there could have won him euros over joubert. no joke. and it could very well give him gold in japan.

so please watch and judge for yourself instead of supposing that his scores were inflated. his jumps were light and absolutely the most difficult you can get without going quad crazy. it was amazing that he landed that 4/3 perfectly. what a time to debut it... wow.

exactly my point. i'm certainly not surprised by those scores. evan deserved what he got despite outraged johnny fans going nuts because he didn't even get silver over bradley apparently.

I Evan skates like that at Worlds he'll do wonderfully, but I don't believe for a second they'd give him a 169. With two quads, maybe.

Johnny's quad was called a quad. He did not get a Level 4 on anything whereas Evan got 3 Level 4s. Evan also got 15 points for the 4-3 and 13.65 for the 3A-3T.

Johnny was very gratious and motivated to do better in the press conference. Evan was excited. Ryan was in a dreamland.

I for one have agreed w/ most of what you've said.

W/ regards to the skating. After watching it again I agree they all got the placement they deserved but, I do feel that Evan was inflated; he still deserved gold but, his marks imo were too high-and always are. I think Johnny is the better skater in terms of pure talent and grace. But, he's a terrible competitor. This season has been v. rough on him; he's been sick through a lot of it and has had personal problems. I fully expected him to lose gold this year but, bronze was a shock to me. I don't see where he's been arrogant or an a** ever? Maybe if you have no sense of humor or perhaps a v. large stick up your butt? Anyway, if he stops skating I'll not watch anymore-w/ Sasha gone if he left imo there would be no reason to watch.

First of all congraguIations to Evan, an outstanding skate.(My jaw was handing open at the end. I believe this is the best thing to happen to happen to Weir. He needed to hit rock botton. Working hard for a month is not good enough. One needs to work hard all season an truelly focus on what he or she want from his or her performance. If Johnny would by some maricle have won, I believe his work effort would have went down and he would have did bad at worlds. I now believe he has enough motivation and fire to push over the top. There might be a quad triple triple in the future. I know he can do it.

I am very happy for Ryan, what a night for him!!!

Absolutely heartbroken for Johnny. But I think he will come back strong for the Worlds and will land that quad-trple he has been hitting in practices and warm-ups.

Now, as far as Johnny's being arrongant (and I want it to be known that I always considered him refreshing) - how's Evan not arrogant??

stating to Peter something to the effect that nobody is going to take way our (as in USA) gold medals, begs me to ask - which gold medals? USA men haven't seen a gold medal since Todd (a complete class act, who I never heard saying things like that). Don't be so sure pal. Mike weiss comes to mind with comments like this.
