who'd have thought that Eman would be the first one to upset Evgeni in a LONG time...

Not to get the protectors of Plush on my butt....but maybe this was a good thing for him? I can imagine that one could get some complacency if they aren't feeling challenged enough. Maybe this will be a "wake up call" for him......

Oh yeah, and CONGRATS EMAN!

I am in shock and so darn proud.... I knew he had what it takes to be champion, its just a matter of him putting it all together. I hope this gives him the confidence he needs to build some momentum heading to worlds.

Men's Competition

I am quite surprised at the outcome. I didn't think anyone would beat Pleshenko.

How very refreshing.

Way to go, Emanuel!!!

I had hoped he would do well but I never dared dream he might win ... I mean ... Plushenko has gone unbeaten for so long.

But I am definetely very happy with the outcome!!!
This should be a great boost to Emanuel's confidence!!!

I can't believe that Weiss medaled with that performance.

My viewing was pre-empted by the press conference (my opinion of that move would take a whole 'nother thread). Anyway, I saw most of Sandhu's program (which looked pretty good, but had some technical errors), as well as all of the others. What happened to Plushenko? I assume that there were technical problems for him to drop to 2nd. So, did he melt down?

No, Plushy performed an illegal third jump combo for which he received no credit. He also eliminated another jump from his program (salchow, I believe). Those things were sufficient to lower his technical score enough to put him in second place.

Go Emanuel!

and he also didn't do a triple axel at all. the one that was in the combo wasn't counted... often he does 2 in big competitions.. and sandhu did 2, one in combination.

sandhu skated pretty well from what i saw before they interrupted the broadcast. a few mistakes.. no major ones. i was surprised and wanted to see his reaction and plushy's.

I liked Eman's footwork

however his program as well as Plushy's got chacked due to some terror warning... *SIGH*
