'Judges will favor the US at LA Worlds' --- can we rule that out now?

Why? Evan is nicely seating there to take it if he bring it. In fact, I am not sure why all this uproar. The top 5 skaters are virtually tied. And it should be great FS.

Thought Chan deserved higher. His choreography is so much more difficult throughout and before the jumps. Brian and Evan did skate with more fire and did the quad but seems the judges haven't really been very consistent. Either give a bigger reward for a quad and stick with that or give the reward for everything between the jumps as well. I thought he should have been rewarded more considering how the judges have judged throughout the year. Anyway felt abit sorry for Abbot but there were alot of very good performances.

Patrick only got 36.95 in PCS and Evan and Brian over 38. Its not right.

Nobu is in 6th atm =(

But the point margin is not insurmountable. And he's in the final flight! He was in worse situation when he was 16th after SP at Worlds 2007 and under heavy pressure to place top 10 (to get 3 spots).

As long as he doesn't collide with the boards again or pop a jump because of being too close to them, he has great chance to climb up in the standings. :agree:

Who should have been the REAL top 3?

I would say Kozuka/Chan in 1st and 2nd in either order, and Verner or Lysacek in third.

I am not shocked, that is what he deserved, he did not attempt or complete a quad, Brian did...there you go that's the reason.

PLUS tushy points, Brian just has a cuter tushy then Patrick.

But it's not the quad that matters..

Patrick's TES is higher than Evan's, and only 0.40 behind Joubert, much less than a quad.

It's the PCS. And I really don't get that. Transition and Choreography? When did the the hip thrust begin to count?

Well then THAT skater shouldn't have won the SP. All of that air-humping and posing shouldn't have garnered that much PCS.

Agreed. It's embarrassing to watch in addition to that. His dance moves are about as smooth as Elaine Benes'.

Me also wishing for somebody to fall comes from me joking and knowing that he is one of the best and rarely comes behind. I would have easily had him in first in this short program. I don't appreciate people telling me that I should be ashamed and that I have no class after reading something that I wrote on a forum. How do you know that I wasn't kidding or being sarcastic. Before you insult people, realize that reading something is VERY different than hearing something. I am actually rooting for Patrick to do well (not as well as my favorite skater) and I want him to get a medal.

So, according to your "logic", we're suppose to conclude that when you say "Fall, fall, fall", you are just kidding, because you really think that the skater is great. Wow!! If you can understand yourself, bravo, 'cause no one that is of sound mind would get that. Regardless, enjoy the Worlds like you want!

I agree with this. I am sorry guys but I thought Patrick was overscored all season.

But then aren't you sorry for him? Judges hurt him in this way. It is not his fault.
This time he was either underscored or Joubert vastly overscored. Period.

The judging was simply :scowl:. I'm too annoyed right now to type anything meaningful. I going to log off and eat dinner.

What I don't get with the PCS is

Kozuka GPF - high PCS, what was it, 38?
Here about the same performance - just 35, or 80 overall.

Chan 4CC - really really high PCS, overall 88
Here about the same performance, perhaps a little bit tighter - PCS 37 and 82 points?

The judges were actually consistent with Joubert, he got these marks for the SP all season long.

Hi
Oh please let us not start thinking the US will be favored because the World's are in LA.

We had enough of that in the Four Continents thread. It got unsportsmanlike and ugly. I never thought I would see post like I saw then on Golden Skate.

Let us keep an open mind and look forward to the Long Program. We all want our favorites to win but let's not yell favoritism until the competition is over. The skaters job is to skate and the judges to judge the skaters cannot control the marks the judges give them. They may like like them but a true champion bites the bullet and accepts them.

I would have put Verner in first, even with the step out of the 3A. I would have had Evan around 8th. Brian around 5th.

Joubert has a very masculine style which some people and this case judges enjoy but Most of the others have slightly different style.

Thank god there were no Russians involved in this part of competition. Otherwise we would see Scott and Sandra screaming non-stop and this board talking about Eastern Blocks. God, some fans are just pathetic.

no, not a bit. His score is over 82! That's not low, that's pretty good without a quad. Plus he hasn't learned to relate to audience yet. Joubert and Evan are much better at that.

Even if judges appreciate Joubert's charisma, then reward him in Execution part of PCS. But the rest??? If Patrick was a bit more 'careful' today, take away some points from EXecution.. Still, the other components were much better, so overall he should have won over Joubert. It is sad that judges do not get the PCS at all!!!!
