thrusting or humping. I do believe when it comes to this level athletic competition, elements should matter more than artistry and choreography (those are always in an eye of beholder). Choreo should only be taken as tie-breaker. Now throw your stones.

Hi
I cannot figure out how to edit my last post so I will say this. My last line should read

" They may not like them ( the scores) but a true champion bites the bullet and accepts them.

You tell them Oxade21, technical merit should always count for more than choreography!!!

no, not a bit. His score is over 82! That's not low, that's pretty good without a quad. Plus he hasn't learned to relate to audience yet. Joubert and Evan are much better at that.

See my post above. If they relate to the audience better (just a bit, IMO, Chan simply relates to the audience in a more subtle way than fist pumping), then reward them with execution. That's all. No other program components should be higher than Chan's. But they are.

But only if the tech is clean! That was actually my point all the time, that a clean Joubert deserves more points than a clean Chan, because Joubert does Quads. And the scores before the competition seemed to say that Joubert clean with Quad would not win over Chan clean. But Joubert wasn't clean here!

I join the group hug and am now running to sleep. It is almost 2 am here...

Have a fruitful discussion! :)

Yeah real funny. Tell that to all the ladies while you're at it. If that was the case, people wouldn't have been ragging on a 15 year Mao.

Transitions is a portion of it's own as is basic skating. I would not count that as choreography. Transition and basics can theoretically be seen as technique, ya knows.

Hi Oxade 21
I am sorry I must be dense but I cannot understand your reply to my post . I do not get whether you agree with me or were upset by it.

Not upset at you, just amazed by some fans who always find the way to blame someone or something.

Joubert has a very masculine style which some people and this case judges enjoy but Most of the others have slightly different style.

Except the judges should have been judging on what was done and how it was done, "masculine" or "effeminate" styles aside.

Yeah, I guess a wonky 4-3 combination is worth MUCH more than any of Chan's technical merit :sheesh:

What are those merits? Have you seen protocols?
You can't score 90 points on simply amazing transitions and cleanly landed triple jumps while other competitor go out and attempts something more challenging. I am sure Chan gets his due in transitions as he always does. Bu it is only one element of many. And we shall wait for protocols before screamed robbed.

i loved kozuka and verner!!!the best of the night for me!!

The start to Verner's program? Just try to do that. Ouch. Also, while his footwork might have looked easy, the one foot swizzles are very difficult, and it is very easy to take a header with one misstep. I just assumed he would fly into first place, I was shocked that Brian and Evan stayed first and second. I don't get it at all.

Brian Joubert was acting really weird after his performance (skating around the rink before bowing, little to no reaction to marks). I thought maybe he was upset about his wonky 4-3, but his marks were pretty huge (too huge, imho). Any ideas about what was up?

Chan scored lower than Joubert on all of the PCS sections. I guess running across the ice, humping the air, standing on the spot, and arm pumping equates into transitions and choreoography.

Looking at state of today's men's skating, I am not surprised Plushenko wants compete again. He truly has a good shot.
