Sort of out of topic: Apparently, selected indoor winter sports (including figure skating and hockey) will be medal events for the Southeast Asian Games in Malaysia in September 2017. So there's that and the the Asian Games in Sapporo (February) to look forward to in 2017. I'm assuming the fed will send him partially to help him prepare for Pyeongchang. Anyway, I'm buzzing and hoping for the best for all competitors, especially for Martinez (and by extension, the Philippine Team) .![]()
I am hoping that Ice Dance and Pairs will be included as well.![]()

Here's a link to a recent interview with Michael: http://www.rappler.com/sports/by-sport/other-sports/97489-michael-christian-martinez-interview.
He said he hopes to retire by the age of 23 after the 2019 SEA Games in the Philippines "[because] of all the pain."![]()
So as he has set a timeline for his competitive skating career, I hope and pray he'll make the most of the years he has left so he will have best results in the 2018 Olympics and 2019 SEA Games. Go Michael!
