Midori Ito

I've just terminated updating Midori's OP. I've added the results table, programs info and as many videos as I could find. Enjoy :)

It was such a joy to watch Midori. She loves to skate and shows it with every single move. Maybe next year I'll go to Obersdorf and in naxt 3-4 years I'll compete with her (no, but it's nice to dream).
She is indeed a joy to watch and shows in her face how much she loves skating. Watching local interviews with her here is the same. I was 🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩when she noticed and interacted to a couple of my comments on instagram. What a sweet lady.🥰

I also dream of going to compete in Oberstdorf but I'm glad I'm much younger and not in her same category since unless she makes a major mistake during her program, it's more likely whoever competes with her in her group will always lose 😅😅

But wouldn't it be a dream to share a podium with her?

The ISU just put up an article about Midori in Nov. 2025.

Skating is a lifelong passion for Ito. Since 2011, she has participated in the ISU Adult Competition seven times so far. At this event, former competitive athletes as well as skating enthusiasts of all ages and levels come together to celebrate their love for figure skating. “I’m here to show my joy of skating,” Ito said at the event. The 1989 World Champion still loves being on the ice in her hometown, Nagoya, and teaches children. She watches with pride when other Japanese women perform the triple Axel and win medals. Ito’s legacy lives on in today’s figure skating.

She always seemed to skate with such joy!

1988 was when she landed the first 3A by a woman, and that was certainly memorable. And it was memorable when she did a 3Lz2T, fell out of the rink into the camerman, made an apologetic gesture to him, and continued with the program.

But my favorite memories of Midori are of her two wonderful programs at the 1988 Olympics in Calgary.
