Totally. At this point I just hope she doesn't leave him high and dry, because unless we're not seeing the big picture, Misha is too hard-headed at the moment and even Valentina seems a bit tired of this.

Hopefully he won't end up messing up even more his health.:gaah:
I doubt she is not going to sit with him in the K&C or something like that. But I have a feeling there may have been tension over his health for a while. Considering their relationship it must have been like a parent watching their own child endanger his health, not listen to anything, and expecting their help with endangering his health. She could have probably done more but we don't know what exactly went on behind the scenes.

I got that feeling from Valentina too. God, what a mess. I just pray the SP isn’t too terrible......their interaction in the KnC will probably be so awkward regardless

I don't think so? I mean, it's proven that Valentina is a strong presence around him, but I feel like Misha is going through a bit of a rebellious time. She will stick by his side no matter what(at least I think so), especially in light of the way things are going around him.

I do hope he has a good SP, and he definitely can do that.

It seems like nobody is sure exactly what he can do in his current state :ohwell:

She will stick by his side but it doesn't mean she'll be happy with whatever he does.

Eh, who knows, right? What bugs me is that there were reports from Tatjana here in the forum--which I'm not discounting, of course, she always brings us a lot of stuff--that he was getting better, and yet that doesn't really show. However, it does seem like no one knows for sure what's happening with him.

Training report:

4T-3T not from first attempt, 3A, a couple of times 3Lz. “Speed is there, but lack of training is felt.”

What does перекидные mean?

I’m sure she’ll be there, but tbh I found their KnC interactions awkward all throughout this season.

Dammit, Misha, I know you look 16 sometimes, but that doesn’t mean you have to act it! You’ll be 24 soon!

I think the severity of the symptoms waxed and waned, but form is not something that is acquired overnight.

Misha looked better in Zagreb, definitely less unsteady, but his nose was still running and his form was not exactly where you would like to see it. Imagine minus a week in hospital from that :noshake:

Kovtun, Samarin and Aliev have to make the podium simply by default due to being the only contenders left who are not sick or injured (as far as we know).

More bad news, poor Sergei! What a cursed comp or the whole season rather :dev2:

Guys, I will be in minority it seems but I am reading the situation differently: why are you saying that he is competing against Valentina's wishes, how that correlates with her statement 4 hours after his post about being in hospital, saying that they were going to compete regardless?
My feeling is that at the very least she was not doing enough to convince him to withdraw from CS events or possibly even pushing him. Are the decisions to up the tech made by Mika alone, why every disastrous decision is his fault, even if it is, it is still his team shortcoming - as not doing their job properly.

With that first statement, I think Valentina was just trying to defuse the situation—unfortunately, with Misha’s IG post, it just complicated things even more and made the team look uncommunicative and unprofessional. I do 100% agree she could have done more throughout the season. Maybe Misha really is that stubborn, but the whole thing is fishy to me.

Anyway, nobody to blame now. We just have to hope he makes it through the SP as unscathed as possible, and work from there.

Though, as much as I hate to use Voronov’s misfortune to Misha’s advantage, I really don’t see why Misha shouldn’t withdraw now. I assume Samarin, Kovtun and Aliev will podium, but is RusFed really going to go for those three for Euros? Especially Dima, with the season he has had and the way his scores have fallen internationally? If he takes bronze, I don’t really see why the couch’s council would pick him over Misha. Unless Misha competes and does very poorly.

I don't see why they wouldn't. If Misha is out of the podium, he won't compete unless there's an injury from the other guys. He won't get special treatment, neither should he. In the end he has his own competition to do--surviving his programs. The rest is the rest.

I just think withdrawing now would look better than going out tomorrow, bombing the SP, and then withdrawing before the FS. Though tbh neither option looks good, especially with the competition starting in less than 24 hrs.

It won't change a thing anyway. Withdrawing now and then competing at the Russian Cup Final might end up being a waste for him, because I can totally see the Fed locking the team after Nats. Competing now, Misha still has as much of a chance of making the team as the rest of the guys. Unless he's in worse shape than during the GP season, he might even podium, or god forbid, win the whole thing.

Valentina isn't the type of coach to push her student to compete sick. She is known for not stopping them when she should have though.

It is pretty clear from the practice report that he is in worse shape and how could he not be after a week in the hospital?
